The Swiss ski resort of Verbier gets a starring role in 'Billy and Dom Eat the World', a new Amazon Prime travel-and-food series hosted by 'The Lord of the Rings' actors Billy Boyd and Dominic Monaghan.
One episode in the series was filmed over four days in December 2023 and follows the pair as they explore the resort, including its thriving food scene.
Highlights include a champagne fondue at Europe's highest fondue restaurant at the 3300m Mont Fort, baking bread at the historic Four Banal in Vollèges, sampling local craft beer, and making their own Raclette cheese.
Boyd and Monaghan - who played Hobbits 'Merry' and 'Pippin' in the 'Lord of the The Rings' trilogy - also stayed at the century-old Cabane Mont Fort mountain refuge at 2457m, where they cooked rösti and prepared croissants for early-morning skiers, before a snowball fight.
"Verbier was cold, but the welcome and the food were warming," said Monaghan.
Boyd added: "Switzerland did not disappoint — it's a beautiful country, with amazing food and wonderful people."
The Verbier episode is part of an eight-part series featuring destinations from Japan to Costa Rica, airing worldwide.
Simon Wiget, Director of Verbier Tourisme said:
"The episode showcases our snowy peaks and authentic culinary culture to a global audience."
