Tignes to open new six-seater Aiguille Percée chairlift

Tignes to open new six-seater Aiguille Percée chairlift

Published : 10-Sep-2025 10:07

Tignes is installing a new six-seater chairlift at L'Aiguille Percée this winter.

The state-of-the-art lift replaces the old lift, first introduced in 2005. Manufactured by Poma, the new chair will travel at six metres per second, taking about 3 minutes and twenty seconds. The hourly uplift capacity will increase to 2800 skiers and snowboarders.

It will provide fast access to the legendary Aiguille Percée area and complete the transformation of the ski lift network in the Tignes le Lac and Tignes les Brévières sectors, following last year's replacement of the Marais chairlift.

Even if you've never been to Tignes, you are likely to know the picturesque Aiguille Percée – the 'eye of the needle'

Perhaps most famously, it featured in the recent viral video by freerider Candide Thovex
