Hi Jo
Yeh, we think La Clusaz is fab too - but then we are biased cos we live here! Totally agree with you about the Bar du vin - and did you make it into the Bacchal - fantastic for chilling out! We still have rooms for the 15th - so keep an eye on the forecast - it's looking good for tomorrow (60cm) plus the snow limit is changing down to 1300m today and colder next week! We are 3 mins from the slopes and 5 from the centre - by private minibus (we are reputed to have the handsomest driver in La Clusaz - but that's just the gossip from Saltos (the ex-pat bar). Can do you a good deal for 5 nights £325pp sound tempting? |
The snow was perfect for the Grand Raid competitors at the weekend, and was consequently won by Arsene Goby and Vincent Michaud - Again!!
We tried out the two routes down Bellachat and Borderon yesterday (with Arsene as our guide) and it was superb, although it took us longer than the 3.2 mins it took Arsene in the competition! Wil keep you posted on the conditions - fingers crossed for more towards the end of March, so we can do it all again!!!! Cheers - dave & sam (www.gravite.co.uk) |

Sorry for the 3-day delay! It did finally stop snowing here on Thursday, but the temperatures have been about -10C here keeping the new snow in lovely powder condition. :D The one downside is that some slopes have no real base on them so you can find your ski/board bases shredded on whatever is lying under that virgin powder! :?
We ended up with about 30-40cm here right down to the village at 1100m and they've obviously been looking at the J2Ski forecast (not much more due for a while  ) because they've been topping the levels up with the snow cannons going full blast for the past 2 days while the temperatures are low. Have fun in the soft stuff wherever you are off to in the Northern Alps in the coming week! |
Praise be - it's snowing here in La Clusaz! :D
About 10cm of fine fresh powder (due to the dropping temps) snow has come down since lunchtime today (Tues) and still snowing with another 15-20cm forecast overnight tonight! I'll let you all know if it arrives tomorrow if I have time before catching the first lift up the mountain (I've so missed powder days this season!) |
Looking for info any any ski resorts about 30 km or so North of La Clusaz /Gr Bornard

You might look at Flaine, Samoens, Morillon, Morzine, Les Gets, Avoriaz, Chatel? In better seasons there is good skiing to be had at all of these resorts!
