He is good, gave me some useful advice. Ditto to children's boots, hire don't buy, they grow too fast!

Always do prebook, but I got Mr Dozey of Saalbach! This year we have pre-booked via a shop in Alpbach, had a look at Crystal's prices, then Ski Set and then found Conny's Hire Shop, even cheaper! - and have them recommended to us!
It is always such a cattle market getting stuff sorted....! |
I have an original tape from 1987 which I tried to get copied (for some of you) to no avail, because it had deteriorated too much and I had loaned it out too many times (this could have paid for a ski holiday at a fiver a lend!) I do wish the BBC would show this at the start of each season, it is their best ever documentary, I do wonder where the people featured now are and if they are still skiing?
I have visited the Falken Hotel in Wengen and seen the bench outside to the 'DHO', and smiled at the slopes in Soll when we dropped people off because I know that is where Kevin, Brenda and Maureen provided so many with so many laughs! I too now have to make do with Youtube, I have my fix every now and again when someone asks what I find so funny about skiing! I look forward to seeing this year's beginners.... |
I do hate the boot fitting (hence buying own boots) the amount of times I used to go back and forth to the ski hire shop and once in Saalbach-Hinterglemm the stupid boot fitting man had no more in my size (size 7) so have me a 10!! Worst (and most dangerous!) day's skiing ever (and it was blue sky, sunshine, fluffy powder!)
I also hate people who want their skis to match their ski gear! Oh for goodness sake.....!! |
Speaking from first hand experience of having THROWN (accidentally!) our passports away (long story!) - I have first hand knowledge that the UK Passport Agency have an office in Hayes in Middlesez where everyone's details are kept (or were kept) - as we had photocopy's of our passports, it was much quicker to get everything sorted this way, than without. Never travel anywhere without a separately stored copy of your passports, it will save you tears, hassle and can certainly speed things up - just keep them in a white envelope marked 'passport copies' and keep them apart from where you safely keep your main passport.
What I found ironic was how hard it actually was to leave Britain - so how come so many people easily find their way in??? Your passport (apart from the initial expense) is a very important piece of kit when travelling, look after it - and it will look after you! |
I would wait, you still have a while to go, by all means look at different resorts and their altitudes, but with the amount of snow Europe has had this season, you should be fine. We have just booked for 3 weeks times, so would be worth the wait if you have a budget to stick to.

I have often called this SAS - Salzburg Airport Syndrome, as I always felt like this when we arrived there to get our flight back to the UK. It affects us all, so you are not alone  I could not find a little face with a hug attached!

I have used RailEurope, which covers the whole of Europe, maybe you can find out more from there.
