High winds cause chaos
Started by User in France
High wind in la Clusaz caused chaos today with most of the ski lifts remaining closed all day. All but a few drgs were open leaving skiers frustrated especially when the sun came out and the pistes were empty.

It was a truly spectacular day with mini tornadoes of snow whipped up by the gale force warm winds on the slopes.

I've never seen the likes of it here in La Clusaz. :O

Fingers crossed tomorrow will be back to normal

Thanks for the recommendation Powderhound.

It is quite a challenge finding good English-speaking instructors. We do know a couple of guys out here in La Clusaz who could teach privately, but it is unlikely that you will be able to book in for group lessons for just the weekend period. :(

We do have spaces available prior to 11 Feb if interested? Visit the website for details of our late deals. www.gravite.co.uk[/url]

We've had loads of fresh snow on the 17and 18 Jan

Just thought I'd keep you up to date with the weather here at the moment after dispairing that no snow forecast this week!
We had a little fresh snow during the day Monday and then virtually all day Tuesday, and it's still snowing today (Wednesday).

The snow shovel out is definately out, so there is lots of snow clearing to be done!Anyone venturing up this way by car will definately need the chains on!
We must have had about 40cm over the past few days, although it is forecast to end today, with sun returning on Thursday (tomorrow). So it's perfect conditions! They are blasting like crazy this morning to make it all safe!

Anyway we're now off to lose ourselves in the powder - more reports in the next few days!

We still have spaces here at the chalet from the 21st onwards if anyone can grab a flight and join us! The snow is too good to miss!!!!!

Success in tignes
Started by User in Ski Chatter
The freestylers of La Clusaz have once again had success in Tignes! The recent slopestyle event including a step-up, a step-doown and 3 big tables, saw the La Clusaz riders resort making some fantastic jumps of awesome height.

Some of the big European riders such as Mathias Wexcsteen and Charles Gagnier took part and La Clusaz's own Laurent Favre came 2nd, Loïc Collomb-Patton 5th and Aurélien Fornier 6th. Quite a result for the La Clusaz freestyle riders.
The 2nd day of the competition saw the riders takling the half-pipe, 120 m in length and 6 m in height. The freestyle elite lined up to compete. The La Clusaz riders gave their all, Laurent Favre coming 3rd, with ArnaudKugener in 1st and Xavier Bertoni 2nd.
Antoine Rachel, their trainer was elated by their results.
The next big competition of the extreme sports, is the X-Games, in the USA.Loïc Collomb-Patton, Laurent Favre and Candide Thovex will be sporting the La Clusaz colours! Good luck guys!!! ;)

Lifts open early - ski this weekend

As I look out the window, I now see that the piste-bashers are out grooming the pistes on the Etale mountain which should give a great base for the further snow we are expecting tonight and Thursday! :)

A quick update for all you snow lovers...it was a fantastic weekend out here on the slopes in La Clusaz and this coming weekend is looking even better!

Since Sunday evening it has hardly stopped snowing (more coming down outside the chalet right now) and the temperatures are falling giving a lovely powder topping to the now firm base. If you have an opportunity to come and join us this coming weekend (9-12 Dec) then you are guaranteed fantastic conditions and very warm hospitality!
