You have really created a real problem for me!

What do I do if correc6t answer is found in ALL your answers.

Do we do a "time sharing" ski deal, where I send ski to X for two months. Then to Y for 5 weeks!

Have you all read each other"s answers? You have great brain power as a group!

Mike, think how proud yu were when you told me and the end of the ski year how you........ ( in figures)

Damm I am getting too close to the answer!

Others will complain that you are getting "unfair" information!

Mind you I wish Ellistine wins so that he can "tell" other skiers what it feels like to ski on a "hot" ski! Come on just a few more sleepless nights Ellistine. You have the answer. You think of this all the time! Now just present your thinking into a "figure"!

I promise you all this figure you will never forget and you will use it for the rest of your skiing life! It will be called the Pavel index!

Damm another hint!!! Can't seem to hold them back! Must be the sleepless nights thinking of all of you!

Here is my very last hint!

Once you know this figure and HOW TO USE IT correctly you become in your country the man to see! They will come to you!

They will ask you if.........!

PS
I have already checked how much it costs to ship skis to England! So get it!!!!!

With each reply from Pavel the hints become more enticing and even more confusing.

But I'm on the way out the door right now but wanted to offer just as strange a "guess" or two.

It seems we are missing one number which will be called the "Pavel index " or PI and we all know PI = 3.14159265375.. or about 22/7. It is used to calculate the properties of circles and since we ski arcs, I suppose we use this to save time as we can estimate the arc we will ski knowing PI and the specifications of our skis. But I have offered PI as an answer already!

And the second guess is that the number we all learn to use to make our skiing more enjoyable and efficient is the "g" = the acceleration of gravity = 982.0 cm/sec sec or 32.22 ft/sec sec We are using gravity to ski the best line we see when we round the tree. We use gravity to help enjoy the cost/run ratio (which after a good year = $.50 =/-). However if we learn how our skis prefore when we let them go due to gravity skiing will be the fun it should be all the time. We learn to control the ski by knowing how to use gravity.

But this past season I was proud of how well my wife skied having gone through knee scoping; how we managed 15 days despite the terrible winter weather which was most times like spring weather; somewhat proud of my 272 runs and one day of 51 runs ... but I can't see the bearing to the quizz.

I hope my driving to where I'm headed now won't be distracted by the lingering puzzlement.

I think I will have another sleepless night tonight !!!

I don't recall seeing that mentioned Agusl. It ties into the DIN but I don't think anyone mentioned anything in that area.

My wife suggested this morning that possibly 2 and 3 may be a couple of the magic numbers. As in ..."turn..2...3..." ..."turn...2 ... 3..." We USE 2 & 3 to keep our turns rythymic and smooth as we turn the skis from arc to arc down the hill! When it works right ... well.. it's magical !!! "Say it like you would sing it !! ..."turn..2...3..." , ..."turn..2...3..."

Technology for you. I'm on a sunbed by a hot tub in a hotel in Cornwall reading this damn thread on my mobile phone!

i've pretty much resigned myself to not getting these skis (anyway I like my skis) and it's lovely not to have to be constantly thinking about numbers.

each time Pavel gives us another hint I get even more confused!

still it's single handedly kept this forum functioning these last few weeks!

when I get home i'll have another read of pavels hints but at the moment i'm baffled.

Ellistine; It sounds like you're having a good time ... sunbeds, hottubs... and I'm happy for you. We all deserve some quality down time now and then. Don't give up on this yet... the correct answer will likely come from someone who is silently lurking and going to pounce with that magic number right at the "magical" moment and BOOM ... Pavel will have to ship the skis to Italy !!! We are only up to page # 6 . The London bookeis are probably taking action on the page number when that lurking person from Italy pounces and closes the 2007 Quizz! But we will greet the winner with a polite "Comie stie?" none the less --- because we skiers are such nice people!

But I agree ... the more hints - the more confused I am as well. But deep down we all would love to take "ownership" of the great skis. For two reasons. 1. They are obviously beautiful skis and like a kid in a candy store we want it all! and 2. We can claim bragging rights as the winner of the 2007 Pavel Springtime Quizz! Thereby it would be like the skier who conquers White Heat at Sunday River. Pavel must relate the story (and reasoning) for a colourfully decorated tree on that run. The people who have decorated it are saying "I've made it - show me my seat at the table of the skiers of the inner sanctum"! And the simmilar thing can be said of surviving a Pavel Quizz let alone claiming to be a winner !!!

Lots of reasons not to give up. Numbers are with you too. Don't stay in the sun bed longer than ---- minutes and get out of the hottub after -----minutes .... Just can't escape the numbers in life. But have a great time anyway :D

Now you have us all rooting for Ellistine! ;)

How about how we rate the skis performance? Ie. Today they performed at a 7 of 10.

Or maybe the degree of arc we are carving?

I'm in trouble because if the quizz goes to a vote then Ellistine, you will win! Now, that's not a bad thing at all, but ....

So I must think harder and this has produced another thought which is so far off the mark I expect that I'm a bit hesitant to offer this. But anyway here goes...

Let's call the number the Pavel index as he has suggested it will be known in the future. Let's use the PI to really mean "Preformance Improvement". This as a number will be a percentage of the skier's improvement over the past year, month, week or what ever interval is chosen. A Gaussian distribution aspect possibility. If we can put a number to how we have learned to control the ski it may be of value in selecting our ski, being safe, establishing a level of valid competency, a level of confidence. If we are confident we will be relaxed and will ski better. The past year I felt improvement as I felt relaxed - more "one with the snow" as it were. So my value of PI, the Preformance Improvement number (or the Pavel Index) is 125. This means I most humbley feel that over the 2006 -2007 season I felt 25% a better skier than in the 2005-2006 season. Knowing this number gave me the confidence to "work" the skis better and in more control. A better skiing experience!

Now isn't that a stretch :!:
