My problem is what do I consider?
May I suggest that you all state, " This is my FINAL 5 numbers" so that once I have given you the answers you will not revert to a "earlier" suggested answer! ( perhaps because some of you came very very close to the answer).
Believe me this is more difficult on me since I am just about to say, "bravo XYZ you have it,,,,,all that is missing is that FIGURE since you have the concept!
You all know what the "shot gun" technique is by reading Mike's "suggestions" How do you think he "won" the last pair of skis! He wore me out with all his suggestions and possible answers!
Thursday 12 PM British time is deadline for all FINAL 5 figures. Trust me,,,,, do suggest 5 final figures since it will be your key to future ski happiness !
Do propose 5 figures Ellistine!

Thank you Pavel!
At least I have that claim !!
My 5 final numbers will be posted Thursday morning before 9am ADT or noon on the UK clock ... ohhh just like eBay!
Then the real learning will begin when we see the numbers "revealed". So far we have been reasoning, thinking, and re-thinking, for the most part. We will only learn when we see what our mistakes have actually been. We all must feel each of our offerings have had some magical value - or we would not have offered them.
Some numbers are magical to the individual and not another (just like a rainbow ... each time we see a rainbow - it is our very own. No-one else sees it. They see their own. Due to the geometry involved our rainbow is unique to us.) So it will be good to learn these magic numbers ( which must be very general). I'm feeling like the current Suzuki television ad ..."thinking I can handle it..." Another day or so of waiting that is ....
I know I'm out of amo and will try to scrape up enough gun powder for the final number set.

A number is a number. It represents a value so that you can make a decision.
A decision that will make you happy!
A wise decision is when you have gathered all the known facts and used these facts to arrive at your goal!
Wise man that Dshenberger.
Makes wise decisions and will make even wiser decisions on Saturday June 9th. 2007!

All candidates must submit 5 numbers by Thursday!
Mike really the skis are for grabs, I really am surprised that you did not get it ( of all people that checks everything), you the engineer that re-calculates and looks at all the options, you the man that once showed me........... ( with pride in your face)!
It really is in front of all your faces!!!
PS
I even had a phone call from a skier that wanted to tell me the answers right away! You must post all answers so that others will witness "correct" items!
No Rossignol did not "donate" skis for this quiz. They are the "left-over" stock from testing program!
Wish you all the very best luck!
I have just had a forehead - palm of my hand encounter I wanted to share with thsoe following this quizz. And since I'm out of amo this one is tossed gently.
One of the magic numbers I'll present with my others on Thursday morning ( unless I can come up with something better ) is indeed right in front of our faces ... if fact if you would all scroll to the top of the page and look to the upper left corner you will see a magic number which is all about the ski and in front of our faces.
The number is "2" as in J2SKI. In this context "2" is a nominal number and this page has brought lots of magic and new friendships.
I hope this is one of the magic numbers... we'll see on Friday.

If we look at some of his early hints we see:
Car horsepower - I think ski length could apply here.
1. 168cm. To a certain degree denotes how much control a give ski will provide, usually choice is based on physical attributes of the skier.
Female figure - Well, how about ski shape?
2. 114-68-99 Has an effect on how well the ski handles different snow conditions. Also, has a bearing on turning radius.
Fishing rod whip - This one doesn't make a lot of sense to me, but. . .
3. 4 We will call it a ski flex rating. Different manufacturers use different numbers, but in every model series they usually have a number designation that gives an idea of how stiff a ski is in that series.
Tire speed rating - How about turning radius?
4. 14.6 This is a basic measurement of the size of turning circle a given ski will produce when carving. In general the longer the radius, the faster the ski. That is, if all else is equal!
Now the hard one: House buying - There are so many variables, but I am going to stake mine on longevity.
5. 3 seasons. The length of time I think it will take before I am going to "outgrow" my current skis. Skiers who have attained a very high level of proficiency may only need to worry about how long before the ski wears out, but beginners have to weigh a lot more aspects. Ie. getting a ski that is safe at their level, a ski that is affordable enough so that they aren't spending $1200 a year on new skis, ;) and a ski that will let them improve.
That is my final list, whether or not I am way off base! I tried to stick to numbers that are NOT subjective, or open to different interpretation. I feel that gives a certain "universiallity" to these "magic" numbers.
Good Luck all! And thank you, Pavel, for a challenging quiz!
