So you've never been to Cornwall then?

Whoops, must not insult the Cornish, even if they do like to insult the English. Infact it was a Cornishman who got me into skiing in the first place by marrying a friend of mine and having the ceremony in Austria.

No, I haven't been to Cornwall and I certainly wouldn't insult anyone from there. My slip of the key board - sorry. I meant with all the internet cafes all over the place you should be able to find a connection while visiting.

The 1994 trip saw visits to Blackpool and area (town & country tour- which went through Wyre on yesterday's bank holiday - as I remember), the Lake District and London. In 1997 another trip to the UK took us to Belfast, Port-a-Ferry (we stayed at a B&B in Bangor), then onto London with a trip to Brighton . Both trips had to include Windsor. Great trips both times!!

Have a great time in Cornwall, Ellistine !

Now skiing in Austria must have been better than great !!! Bet you have some other good stories besides driving the nail!

Mike :-)

Sorry Mike, it was me having a little dig at our Cornish friends not you! A large group of Cornish people want Cornwall to be it's own independent country. Not sure quite how viable that would be. It's certainly a long time since tin mining was a big earner. They are however, planning to create quite a large artificial ski slope down there - with green snowflex to reduce the visual impact on the area. I find it quite hard to imaging skiing on green snow, either real or false. Should be good though.

Allright guys, try to stay focused here! Haha. :P

Mike, I like the serial number idea.

The only other thing I can think of is the "model year." I suppose that could save you money. . .

The model of the ski usually has a number attached indicating the stiffness as well. The Atomic supercross SX 9 is slightly less stiff than the SX 10 as with the Solomon Crossmax Pilot 10 or Pilot 9.

The problem with the serial # is challenging the person who found your missing (misplaced) ski that you would like to take a look at the serial #. But then the tuning shops usually have an eye out for these "misplaced" skis with a list at their bench.

Another number I remember is the sequence of turns and numbers on my combination lock which helps me from misplacing my skis from the racks. OK -- so I'm not so trusting I suppose....

And Ellistine we have parts of Canada that have the independance feelings too. Not sure where Pavel stands on this one - can be a sensitive issue at times. But then NS has had promises from people who wanted to use the shale layering beneath the province to act as a means of floating the entire province down to Florida. Now wouldn't that mess up our ski season !!!

I just noticed on a map of NS that there's a town called Truro - named after Truro in Cornwall I should imagine. Perhaps you're fractionaly Cornish Mike!

Not Cornish - just corny... (sorry)

Don't know about the roots in detail. But I'm supposed to be 3/4 Irish and 1/4 Welsh. Most grandparents came from Ireland during the potato famine days to Cape Breton (northern part of NS) and The Edwards settled closer to Halifax. Truro is about a 55 minute drive from my home just outside Halifax. Look closely at your map Ellistine. Slightly north of Truro is Wentworth - the location of Ski Wentworth -another 30 minutes from Truro. Some really nice trails there and the only black diamond hills nearby. They usually get "The Headwall" operational but the other 2 depend on a snowfall. Their site has a gallery showing this. The first time down the Headwall when my wife and I were riding back up on the chair - patting ourselves on the back for this accomplishment .... some kid was travelling down headwall - backwards

Find Windsor near the center of the province and just slightly west you will see Martock. Ski Martock is 44 minutes from my driveway to theirs. We try to leave at 7:45 on Saturday mornings to give us time to get the boots on and to the the first chair at 9am. Gee this makes me long for the winter Saturday mornings :(

I had left out before that the '94 trip included a day to Chester in Wales. Now that's a neat place! A real tourist trap too! We would really like to someday charter one of the river boats and make that run. Have you toured Chester and walked the wall or visited the Cathedral ? Some real history there!

We seldom take advantage of the features of where we live. It is the same here.

No new numbers :?:

When do you leave for Cornwall :?:

Mike :)

I've seen very little of the UK. I've never been East of London nor North of the Lake Districts. Last summer I bought a new Cabrio car so at some point I want to do a summer time tour of the UK. The trouble is I end up using all my Holiday during the winter (for obvious reasons). I currently have 4 out of my 26 days of Holiday left that need to last me until 31st of December!
When do you leave for Cornwall
Tomorrow 7am  - a bit too early for me.
