Hi every one I've skied ski welt elmau and Sheffau for 4 seasons and thought it a super place only problem it's low down, I believe it's now expanded to a larger area that you can get over to kitz with easy access, I go to Austria every year as I love the place food accommodation and beer prices have stayed the same you don't get ripped off

Replying to this quite late. but thought I'd add my £0.02.
When we ski Europe we tend to go to Austria, the Hotels we choose are ski in ski out. St Anton I really like as it's got nice restaurants and I really like that Tapas place (A Tapas bar? Genius).
Plus I quite like taking the train from Zurich to St Anton. Straight in to resort with no fuss and a car waiting.
Different strokes for different folks but hey My fave is Whistler. However in my experience the few times I've been to French resorts I've found the crowds shocking.
Wouldnt be rushing back to val d'isere any time soon.

France 8 euros for a beer. Austria 4 euros for a beer. That is all.

Hmmmmmm. Kinda. There is a long and very nice run down from Westendorf called the KiWest, and at the bottom you can hop a short ski bus to the Kitzbuhel slopes.
Just I have never actually bothered to do it!!! The thought of a bus is enough to put me off, even though you can actually see the other lift going up the other side of the valley.
But SkiWelt is so big, I never get around to skiing Kitzbuhel. (I did a few days there and didn't like it so much, but I really need to go again).
p.s. By the time you have got yourself from Scheffau across to the bottom of the KiWest, and a bus to the Kitzbuhel slopes it will be time for lunch.

A quick comment on Austria and cost. Have been going to Austria (always the Arlberg) for years but last year went to Andorra for the first time for a change. Great snow from late Jan onwards but surprised to find that the 6 days ski pass cost more than Austria - Lech/Zurs/St Anton....
But have to admit the wine was cheaper......

That was in Val Thorens a few years ago. It was enough to put me off for life, plus that and Mrs Smoothie refuses to fly to French airports after a horrendous departure from Grenoble (same trip). Never been to St Anton but now I know the beer price I don't think I'll bother ;-)
