St Anton isn't really about the pistes, it shouldn't be the first resort on the list if you're not venturing off piste. It's still good, but Lech or Zurs would be a better base.

I am amazed that admin pulled tony up on his response but said absolutely nothing about snowmans flippant and provoking remarks about tony working in a travel agent!

But in response to the thread. There are resorts in Austria where you can stay near to the piste and in smaller resorts I have found it cheaper eating out slope side.

I went to ellmau this year and wasn't a fan. The main reason being is that I like wide cruisy slopes and found the ski welt to be more for good intermediates rather than nervous beginners, I don't think the skiwelt is somewhere I would go back to. Also I wasn't a fan of getting the bus to the funicular then queuing up for the funicular to go to the top. We as a family are just too slow moving.

What makes you say Tony does not work in the travel industry (or agent)? Maybe he was being a tad sarcastic?

Tony - it was a while ago, and I remember I did not enjoy it, hence the reason I have only been once. I can have an opinion as I have been there ;-)

In St Anton, there should only be one route back to town - via the Moosewirt or Krazy Kanraru! If you dont go there, dont go to St Anton ;-)

But you do benefit from people's holidays? If you are not that kind of target market I apologise

Not relevant. The guy was stating I was a travel agent. Which I am not.

hehe, love it! "money doesn't really come into the equation for us" and "rather than slum it with the paupers" anyone that will quite happily pay 8-9 euros a pint in france compared to 3-4 euros in austria because it must be better because it costs more is exactly the type of person who in my opinion deserves to get ripped off skiing in france...either you've got more money than sense or a rather high opinion of yourself! Get a grip and go to Austria, in my opinion a skiing holiday is better because of all the factors together, better apres, food is just as good as france, you're not ripped off on the mountain, the people are so friendly and the rich arrogant t0$$"*s stay in france...on 2nd thoughts...stay in france :)
I would have got away with it if it wasn't for those pesky kids!

Freezy: first and foremost, well said sir, and absolutely on the mark. I do detect our original posting friend was attempting to stoke something up with his comments, but people like him are welcome to their lift queues, 25 euro lunch platters, lack of tress and 9 euro beers in some pompous Russian infested pretentious bar......or something like that anyway ;-)

Secondly, welcome back dude.
