I am making a formal "complaint" to the international internet coordination committee about this "horrible" video. That the site administrators would allow such terrible video to be shown on this ski site is beyond words.
That Mike would post such......video is troubling. I did not sleep all night since I saw over and over again those poor souls going down the chute! What next!!! Skiers unite! We can not allow our faithful skiing companions to have this faith! To think, Mike that I was preparing another "care" package....now all I have is visions of "poor" skis rejected! Yes indeed a cruel world!! |
Hugh,
How old are you, since you might keep on growing! Now if you are past 13 and might have stopped growing, here are some possible options! You must determine first if it is a "volume" issue or a specific pressure point issue. The volume issue is the most serious, so let us focus on it! All modern ski boots are classified based on inner volume and NOT size. That is why you will see 235 240 260 275. It is a much better indication of possible "acceptance" of your feet! try this; Take thin sockets and after heating boots ( slowly over-night, please not in oven) Put on boots with no buckles for 15 minutes! If no pain or pressure Put buckles on at lowest setting for 15 minutes If no pain increase buckle pressure If you can not even put on boots or instant pressure, do not even try to make boots bigger! Sell them and get new boots! If after 15 minutes you get pressure points,,,,,note where and contact me via PM or this site. |
Tony,
Now get him to "invite" you to his great bar! Seems he has some great parties there! Pavel |
We often do not want to share with others those things that just give us so much pleasure. I am sure once you have read this your life will change.
One of the "suffering rituals" skiers have to go through is the cold boot insert, the wet boot plunge, the hard boot fight. All that can be solved with some minor "adjustments, modifications or purchases. We are talking here about the toasty boot possibility! Most modern boots have a inner liner that is "active" when close to heat. In other words it "molds" or moves when heated! Here are some techniques to help you get that "grateful foot" feeling. I have an old oil furnace and I can place 5 pairs of boots on a special rack I designed. In the morning the boots are toasty warm! I also have two portable fan driving boot heaters which I always use when traveling. They have internal "cut-off" sensory and are very quiet. The very best boot heaters are the ceramic heaters. No noise, slow gradual heat and very compact. I also buy a very small hair drier which I use on very cold days for my gloves and boots ( only for 5 minutes) since you can burn liners and ruin hair drier. NEVER but NEVER insert air drier into ski boot and walk away! Why? Well first Ise is going to post that it is a "fire hazard"!!! Which it is! More importantly it will melt inner foam! Now a great hint for Jan! I once visited a bed and breakfast where the owner built himself a ski boot rack heater for 20 boots with simple PVC pipes! On one wall were a series of PVC pipes that held ski boots. The heat source can be; furnace, wooden stove, electrical heat duct source. He used those small silent computer fans you can get in any store! I modified this system for my house with fans for fireplaces and a variable electric switch for power tools. Thus I can get very fast hot air or just slow stream hot air! PS Jan Get outside fan for "boot odors" and also a powder you can buy for oils smells! It has magical qualities which seems to "eat" foot smells NOT hide it!It is sold by oil furnace companies. White like flour and truly has magical properties. My oil tank had this smell from oil spill ( by technician) and once spread in 15 minutes odor gone! He gave me a box and I have discovered it works on grease smells, foot smells, boot smells,!!!! Cost $55 for complete system in my home -fan -duct tape -tubing -variable switch Once you put on your toasty warm boots and they "mold" to your feet,,,never again will you put on cold boots or do the wet plunge in damp ski boots! Conditions to respect You must know all about plastic acetone glues You must know about electricity You must know temperature control You must know how to use duct tape You must know how to turn off electric breakers phew...hope I have covered all my liabilities. |
Realskier is perhaps the very best source of information that is factual, well researched and to the point.
Here is their take on ski length. http://www.techsupportforskiers.com/length_suggestions.htm |
Ise,
A case of mis-communication! I know what the slotted units are for! The problem is when a ski technician installs plate with drill or by hand,,,, too hard the screw exerts too high pressure on top of slot. There is thus little or no free play! The skis I saw,,the screw heads were digging into the top of the slots. Actually making grooves! My "suggestion" to knowledgeable skiers is to inspect these screws and slots. As far as having screws coming out of plate,,most knowledgeable/racer skiers use helicoils to anchor all screws" You never but never get such "incidents " as note in picture! The ski will rip apart before helicoil will "release" screw! Thanks for comments and concern for other skiers! |
Iceman,
That is nothing! Soon you will have "vibrator" optional and speakers on each chair listing all the "specials" at the ski resort! Do not forget also that coffee holder which heats cup as you go up! Mike is designing also a waxing carpet, which waxes skis as you wait in line. Those wind-proof hoods on chairs,,,,soon you will have commercials projected on them! Be prepared! |
