Iceghost,

I would not recommend using pain killers as a mask ! Pain is telling you something. Constant pain is telling you something even more.

I assume you are young. You have many years of skiing ahead. Do not make situation worst! Skiing on torn ligament is not asking for more trouble!
What will you do when both knees are gone!
You might be tough as nails,,,but body can only take so much! Time to let nature take its course and heal!

Tony,

No "serious" skier wears tight pants , unless you are a racer with Spyder skin tight outfit. An acceptable ski pants are loose in thigh area, tight ( elastic) waist which is high and may have elastic straps.Powder inner sleeves and side zippers.

I have found some boarding pants that are much better designed and padded so I have one pair which I use in very cold ( -30c) and snowy weather! Why?

They have extra layer near seat and extra steel hard nylon. They allow great freedom! They do have a high waist band!

You can have great functional boarding pants , without the low low waist problem!

I truly feel it is more of a "conform" to peers issue than boarding issue!

In skiing I am sure you will still see; the tight jeans skier, the rugby jacket skier, Frank's Pub jacket skier! They do not have strong enough egos to pick ski clothing that is functional rather than saying, "I am part of this z x y group"
Anybody have any ski jokes?

Dean,
I am cured from my fixation. Am skiing on Head SL World Cup and Fischer SL.

Atomic was so good to me in the past years, however they are going through some serious "administrative" crisis,,as is Rossignol!

All skis at top level a really great, it was a subtle way to make comment about Jan's choice of Volkls!

On a side note! Where are the women with their MEN jokes!

Trencher again gives great advice.

Top pressure problems are solved with BOTTOM work!

What does that mean?

You want to lower your foot so that you have more space at top!
There are many ways to do this! Trencher's is one of them!

Take out liner, Look inside boot you will see a plastic hard sole plate! This plate is screwed on or just pressure fitted!

Look inside your liner. you also have a soft sole plate!

You can play around with these to lower foot position relative to boot!

I once had such problem and even removed a buckle from shell and re-positioned it with new pop rivets!

I have a confession to make! I have never had a ski boot that I did not modify! Everyone has unique feet! Boots are made for the "average" skier ( that does not exist) so skiers who think that they will find that perfect fitting boot "off the shelf" will be greatly disappointed!

The rule of thumb is; always make small gradual changes!

I have a DVD which I received from a ski boot clinic lecturer,,I will ask him permission to share it with skiers on this site since he never comes to Europe! Or perhaps he can sell it to you at ver basic price!
My boots feel like new again!

Trencher is so right. The very best fitting you will get is when you do the "job" yourself!

It is not that difficult!

Try experiment, visit some excellent ski boot fitting sites. Watch s pro do the work! Enroll in ski boot clinics. Take old boots a cut them apart to learn how they are made!
Slowly buy special tools!

Make your self a boot holder with an old binding, some C clamps, wire and heat gun!

Keep in touch on this site,,since this Summer I will show you how to make such ski boot holder! Cost? $23!!!

Jan,

Welcome to the world of adolescences ! Previously it was defined as persons in the 13-19 age range! Now it is more "elastic" with some in the 20+ range!

We all "passed" this stage and I am sure you are aware of the definition of this "stage"! An adolescent is a person who can not believe that one day he/she will be as "dumb" as her father or mother!

The one overall factor that drives ados is to "belong" to be accepted by peer group! So clothing choices are not based on "functionality" but on "acceptance".

Several years ago it was nearly impossible to have male adolescents wear tuques or hats in winter! In fact it was a major problem white ski patrollers since many males ados would get serious frost bite! Now in the middle of summer heat what do you see??? Tuques with hooded sweats!

It is but a passing phase, until "they" discover their own style and can dress because they wish to integrate society! Meanwhile just enjoy view!

The very best will come in Spring, when it is hot with +10 and sun melting snow! Those hats create steamed heads, pants are great snow scoppers, low low crotch catch the tops of moguls and as you jump from the tops of moguls,,,,they watch over-heated!

Be young , let little boy in you show your style!

Mike,

I know that you have a good heart Mike! You should also know that when you post a warning....all it does is "invite" readers to see! Like having a document stamped " TOP SECRET" or must be 18 and over to enter!

Yes I saw the Atomic Ski!!!!

Yes I saw and felt them "tremble"," shake and twist about as those giant blades crushed them!

Some skiers have on "morals"!
