Where's the best skiing in Scotland?
Started by User in Scotland, 56 Replies
Snow may be a problem that late being truthful...although the season may run longer this year!! We stayed at Alpen Roc, very basic Best Western hotel, but reasonable price and very flexible..you can get passes and skis at the hotels own hire shop in the hotel which makes it ultra convenient!! I always use Alpline for transfers ...will dig out details....they offer shared or private transfers depending on your budget, so can be as cheap or expensive as you want it to be. Going so late, I would wait anyway until last minute even if you choose Scotland, as it`s all been a bit odd this year so far! Here`s hoping the season lasts well into April!! Jo

This is a tough one. It`s a very different experience skiing in Scotland as the weather can change so suddenly and there are a vast amount of drag lifts....Can`t really recommend where to go, but don`t pre book because of the conditions, you will have to just be able to go when the ski lands and the winds aren`t howling!!. I am off for 4 days to La Clusaz in March...with an early flight you can be on the slopes by the afternoon and it`s only an hour and a bit from Geneva so maybe worth looking at short stay in Europe...I do this about 3 times in the season and it`s always been worth it. :)

Hi Both

I went to Obergurgl back in early December before season really got going. Don`t know your hotels though sorry. The resort is okay, but the skiing is really good. There are some brilliant long runs on the Hochgurgl side of the mountain, and make sure you go up to the new bar right on top of the mountain over there....the views are absolutely amazing!! There is also floodlight skiing back into Obergurgl on the Obergurgl side...just follow blue run all way down into the village and you go past a mountain hut...from 4.00 onwards this place turns into a giant party and then you ski back down whenever you`re ready!! It`s a great experience!! The resort is limited in numbers of restaurants and bars but what is there is okay....the main apres ski is a small open air shack over near the ski school! Good Fun. For me, the skiing is better than the resort, but I can live with that!! Have Fun!
Not been before, but booked it after speaking to people on this site! Looking forward to it....skiing looks great there!
I admit, I spoil myself rotten in the Winter....but trust me, it makes for a bloomin long Summer!!!
