Have been to Austria twice to ski (started as a complete beginner) but thinking about going to Scotland for another "fix" before the season ends. Would go abroad but hubby dearest hasn't enough leave left so only four days are possible. Where's the best place to go for intermediate skiing? :)

This is a tough one. It`s a very different experience skiing in Scotland as the weather can change so suddenly and there are a vast amount of drag lifts....Can`t really recommend where to go, but don`t pre book because of the conditions, you will have to just be able to go when the ski lands and the winds aren`t howling!!. I am off for 4 days to La Clusaz in March...with an early flight you can be on the slopes by the afternoon and it`s only an hour and a bit from Geneva so maybe worth looking at short stay in Europe...I do this about 3 times in the season and it`s always been worth it. :)
A bad day on the slopes is better than a good day in the office !

I know this is Scotland's forum but thanks guys, La Clusaz is starting to look very promising! Do you guys book it independently? How do you get from Geneva airport to the resort, where's the best place to hire skiis and lift pass and where's the best place to stay? We may be restricted to going about 8th April, will the snow still be good? :-)

Snow may be a problem that late being truthful...although the season may run longer this year!! We stayed at Alpen Roc, very basic Best Western hotel, but reasonable price and very flexible..you can get passes and skis at the hotels own hire shop in the hotel which makes it ultra convenient!! I always use Alpline for transfers ...will dig out details....they offer shared or private transfers depending on your budget, so can be as cheap or expensive as you want it to be. Going so late, I would wait anyway until last minute even if you choose Scotland, as it`s all been a bit odd this year so far! Here`s hoping the season lasts well into April!! Jo

Hi, i booked it all independently and for flights, car hire, accomodation and insurance for 4 of us it was £150 each, we stayed in Etale which is a bit higher up than the main town but the apartment, although very small, was ski in ski out, there was 2 hire shops, we paid 39euros each for skis, boots and poles and our lift pass for the entire region was 78 euros.

Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot folks, you've been very helpful. It looks like we might be able to go at the very end of March/start of April now. I will wait until the last minute because I priced Easyjet flights yesterday to Geneva and they were around £270!! :D
