Plagne Soleil is well connected to the rest of the system, and I agree with Paul McD, it's much easier to get to/from Plagne Centre.

I'm getting the feeling that this is your way of saying..... "I'm justifying buying more kit, especially skis, as I need some, really I do" :D I have had my new Conrad brochure for a few weeks, and it's beside me now, calling me. If I reach out I can turn the pages, all 368 of them 8) |
To use a Motorway in Switzerland you need to purchase a Vignette. If you don't intend to use the Motorway, you don't need one. Switzerland has a perfectly good set of main roads and lots of locals don't buy a Vignette because they only drive locally, and don't bother with the Motorway. If you enter Switzerland at a non motorway entry point you won't be stopped and obliged to buy one, since it is not a legal requirement to display one to drive on ordinary roads.
If you enter at Bardonnex (Geneva)you will likely find the border patrol very well organised at spotting cars without vignettes. Have the money ready! You will then be entering Switzerland on the motorway. It is possible to get back to Geneva Airport without using the Bardonnex entry point, which is useful if you have a French registered hire car. The stickers are very difficult to swop between cars are they disintergrate when you try and peel them off, so the one you buy is yours' to keep unless you are very skilled. There are fines for not sticking them on properly, to stop folks selling them on, when they leave Switzerland. Each Vignette has a colour code and the year, this years' is yellow and has 08 on it. The validity is from 1 Dec 07 to 31 Jan 09. There is no short term Vignette unlike Austria. Best visit more often to get better value, I know I do :D |
Yes, Valmorel in the Tarentaise has a longstanding reputation as a good place for learners and novice skiers to gain confidence. There are lots of long gentle slopes, blues and greens in the ski area. Les Gets also has plenty of friendly skiing with plenty of tree lined slopes. Crans Montana also has many miles of easy cruising. Tignes is a pretty tough introduction for beginners IMHO. |
I'm glad that it works for you, though the OP was originally wanting the lowdown on cuff adjustment which will align the lower leg to the boot cuff, and this won't affect the stance on the ski. Sole Canting is normally achieved by adding half degree shims to the footbed IME. |
I have not tried PE's, however I was close to purchasing Movement Demon Flame's a few years ago, and the Flame is similar in performance. It was a close call between the Movement's and Stockli Stormrider AT's. The Stockli's won the day as I found them more nimble to use. So many skis....so little time 8) |
If you feel attached to K2's you have a really evocative choice this winter as they have reintroduced the Extreme, keeping the original paint styling 8)
We have some of the original one's in our garage, purchased new :D Recons....join a weightlifting gym ) |
Ross, good call  I'm hoping to get my paws on some Nomad Crimson's for a test session in November. There is some serious competition out there in the same performance bracket though.
