Buying Skis

I would like to buy a new pair of skis and am wondering where I can get the best prices?
Should I go to a ski show such as Olympia or go to a resort at the end of the season?
Many thanks

just got the new brochure and there's some real bargains. If you can resist the urge to have this years most talked about ski and just get what you need there's some great deals especially with bindings I thought.
I'm getting the feeling that this is your way of saying.....
"I'm justifying buying more kit, especially skis, as I need some, really I do"
:D
I have had my new Conrad brochure for a few weeks, and it's beside me now, calling me. If I reach out I can turn the pages, all 368 of them 8)
Mine only came this week, I guess they send them out to the big spenders first and those of us just buying the cheap stuff get the brochure last )
will bandit resist :?: :?: :?: -)

I bought my first skis in resort, but only because they were such a silly bargain.
I got my last pair from www.swisstimsskis.com
He claims to be able to get hold of virtually any skis at a great price. Which is great provided you have a rough idea of what you are looking for.

well what i would do is to go to a ski shop
out where i live there is a seasonal ski shops, they are ope from sept. to june. there they have any and all skis/ snowboards imaginable all the acessories, and apparel and ski tuning equipment you could imagine, what they also have is the ablity to buy used equipment, skis/boots snowboards/boots, this is nice because they price rental equipment for lower as you use beginner setups, and higher for better skis.
most times you can find sales for specials they have, the best to do is not to go right at the end of the season but right before, as they will raise prices slightly at the end as they have caught on to this trend of buy at the end of the season, for example, i bought my skis( elan flow 8.1's for 499 this years model 08's as wll as rented m boots, tecnicha entry x2 for 39 dollars {the amount on sale mins 100 dollars if i choose to return em not charged 100 dollars, but if i keep em then they charge the 100 dollar, im stepping into better boots next season}
i also bought my bindings for 150 with install for free, the are elan L10's, so not bad for a 6-700 dollar setup) they have all these options and the people were knowledgeable, and they took the time 45 mins- 1 hour to help me find what was needed, including boot fitting with the boot shell empty for my foot, and weigting out my binding for resistance and proper fit, i was also able to snag a pair of good goggles that fit me perfectly for 20 dollars, when goggles that were 85- 10 dollars didnt fit me at all.
over all service was impresive, they also had enough ptex and wax to make your head spin, one of the few ski shops in my area that still had hand tuning as an option.
over all its al dependant on where you look and do your research.

Sport Conrad in Germany offer a very good online service, and amazing prices. Quick delivery too, used them several times. Their printed brochure is absolute ski porn :D At the moment they are selling off all their Test Kit. So it's slightly tested stuff at very good prices, like Volkl Mantras with Marker Duke's for 500 Euros

just got the new brochure and there's some real bargains. If you can resist the urge to have this years most talked about ski and just get what you need there's some great deals especially with bindings I thought.
