Tom, do you get a deal from K2? If you are free to look around at other makes then do some research to get the performance profile you want and get testing. K2's just seem heavy these days. Some folks like heavy skis (hands up all Metron owners).
For a light, nimble AM ski I suggest the Movement Yaka or Yaka Jam (bit fatter). I do think you have to go longer unless you go for a slalom ski.

We will have to agree to differ, as I find my Monster's pretty heavy to use off-piste with a Railflex setup. Fatigue sets in rather earlier than with my other skis. I would not buy a rail binding again on an AM ski.
Tom
What weight are your bindings? What set up are you using currently?

Binding weight can make a huge difference.

I look at your stats and think that your current skis which IIRC are a TT, are a bit short. If you go shorter and narrower, you will need a stiff slalom ski IMHO.
How much snow is needed.

This must mean winter is almost here.....!

Oooh good news! I shall have a look tomorrow :D

I went there early Dec 06, and the snow on the glacier slopes was superb. Also managed to ski to the village, but it was a bit thin in places.

So thats also irrelevant then is it, Bandit?

So now you have read the whole thread Tony, can you provide the OP with some suggestions specific to their needs?

Not to start another war, but I question the obsession with "professional" lessons. How often do you get refresher classes on walking, driving, skating, etc? Learning can be intuitive, and kind of like walking - more than one style is acceptable. It is ridiculous to think that one can't be a good skier without some, usually, self-proclaimed expert critiquing your every move. Now I run to my fallout shelter. . . :)

It's fine if it's only that person, and they never want to improve. Ownership of personal choices yada yada. The issue for me,is when that the person concerned chooses to pass on their bad habits as training to another person, thereby ensuring that the newbie will never learn to ski properly either.
AFAIK it costs about £30,000 to train as an internationally qualified British Ski Teacher, and takes several years. Many fail to achieve the standard. If it were possible to learn it all from your mates for free, why would anyone sane bother with it?
Could it be that the DIY crowd are in a "Don't know, what they don't know" situation?

Last time I looked, Verbier was in Switzerland, not France. The OP wants France.
