Really cool pics!!!
Mine are all taken in Big White in Canada. Tonnes of snow there always, many awesome powder days throughout the season!!! And yeah the trees at the top are known as "Snow Ghosts". Doesnt happen in all that many places worldwide. its to do with the snow and the ice thats in the cloud which just encased the trees in both. They look really easy to ski in but hit one and it hurts soo bad cos its solid!! |
here are a few that i've taken over the past season..

Great pics mate...i see what you mean about Sauze having basically no snow!
Ill add my few photos later when i've got a bit of time! |
Hintertux and Stubai are the 2 main summer glaciers in the alps. The Dachstein is another good one as well. Hintertux is open all year round, not sure about the other 2, think they close for a bit between winter/summer and summer/winter. Skied Hintertux in the summer and its pretty good for summer glacier stuff. Cant remember much of it though it was 7 years ago when i was 13!

Its to do with demand.
If there is still plenty of snow in the Alps in May and its also hot and sunny in the beach resorts many people will not be interested in the skiing any more (skiing all the way for me!!). Costs them a lot of money to keep the infrastructure up and running, and if there isnt enough people there they lose money!! So they close |
I've skied Filzmoos 3 times, 2005/6/7. Great little place for beginners. But there arent any ski routes to other resorts its all contained in its own area within the Ski Amade. A lift pass will allow free usage of the buses though, and places like Flachau, Radstadt and Schladming aren't that far away (not sure if Schladming is included in the lift pass though).

I've never skied Bulgaria and to be honest have never wanted to. With the stories i've heard i wont be either!! I agree with Tony H etc.
may be cheaper than the Alps, but i think id rather save up more money and have a better holiday! |
