It's snowing again in La Rosiere this am 8th Jan. More and more pistes are being open and almost all the lifts are fully open. Looks as if the next week or so is going to be really good.

Michelle, sorry to hear about your injury but glad to hear that you're still up for a skiing holiday. I am biased because we have a chalet in La Rosiere but I believe it would tick all the boxes as far as your requirements as concerned. It's a super reosrt for learning to ski, it's high and snow sure, the slopes are south facing so it gets maximum exposure to the sun. The pistes are mostly blue and reds, they're above the tree line so they are wide and long, great for practising and you're not stuck in the village on beginners slopes for days on end.
The views are some of the best in the Alps, we can see at least 11 peaks over 3,00 metres in the view from our chalet but like all ski resorts it's really centred around the skiing although there is a spa and fitness centre as well as the usual shops and restuarants. If you're up to walking there are a variety of guided tours around the locale, some of which use snowshoes to get to places that you couldn't reach wearing ordinary shoes or boots. Why not have a look at our website www.tracksvacations.com it will give some idea of what a chlet holiday can be. Regards David Last Tracks Vacations |
You can take skwal lessons in La Rosiere, the ex French and World champion Christel Bizel is an instructor with the ESF.

I echo everything said by chaletinthemountains, March is often the best time to ski, good snow and out of peak season so there are lots of good value deals available. Personnally I prefer April but you have to ensure you go to a high resort with a good snow record.

Why go to Ste Foy when you can ski in La Rosiere? Same deal applys throughout the Haute Tarentaise, buy a six day lift pass in one resort and you can ski any other in the valley at a reduced rate. I haven't skied Ste Foy since the season before last, never bothered to go there last year, we used to like it but now it's full of identikit chalets and the only French you'll hear spoken is by the lifties. So go to a resort which is sunnier, has more interesting skiing including a link to Italy and take a day trip to Ste Foy but only if it's just snowed, although I won't be doing that until the snowbase has stablised. If you're interested in La Rosiere we've got a speciula deal in January, a free six day Espace san berardo lift pass wioth every adult weeks booking.

Happy New Year, there's some great skiing to be had over he next week or so. Let's hope the snow continues, but I skieed all last week in sweater, never done that in December before, it was great, more like April skiing.

Dumping down in La Rosiere, had some snow on Sat night, a light dusting just as forecast but yesterday and today masses of snow, it was still a bit warm yesterday so it rained in the village (1.850m) but the frezzing level is falling and today there's lots even below village level. Good news for anyone going skiing this week or next! Just a word of warning, there were bare pistes last week, so all this fresh on an insecure base will mean a heightened avalanche risk in the next week or so.
