Fall Line
Started by User in Ski Technique, 6 Replies
Here is a concrete example of why very soon sites such as these will become multi-media sourced.
One video could answer all the doubts about fall line or flow line!

I really like the term flow line ( which I have never heard) since often I tell skiers that we should ski like a stream which flows down a mountain! It curves around rocks rather try to displace them!
It has no apparent beginning and end just one continuous motion very much like a great smooth skier.
It is part of nature and does not "attack" or try to change other settings! So it should be in skiing.

Notice also how a stream changes speeds based on terrain, just like a skier should flow with the terrain!

Notice how water finds the "flow of least resistance", just like an effective skier finds the very best skiing line! Thank you for that great term,,,,flow line! Will use it more now!

Trencher,

Of course, of course I should have thought of that. My tuning room is 20 meters away from house! An old horse and carriage house which I renovated into work area! I have that urinal problem often while waxing and I hate having to put on winter jackets rush to house!

Great selection.

Did you all notice Dremel hanging above bench. This is a serious tuner!

I would like a sauna near that electrical panel!

Of course we are missing a rack for ise's snow shoes!
I thought I had a great music selection in my computer! This section has made me discover songs and bands that I did not even know existed.

Thank you Jan for Plastic Bertran and Oasis
Thank you ISE for Audioslave and Massive Attack. What great choice you have.

Rossfra8 great choices and I am sure we could exchange Ipods and love our runs! Kasabian??? I am now really discovering "new" music. Thank you.

Gavin and Trencher both of you amaze me at your eclectic selection of music! Now this Toad choice I will have to follow up on!

Here is an excellent example how the net has become a powerful medium for "sharing information" More powerful than canned marketing campaigns. I am now a fan of Massive Attack,Appollo440,Mogwai and Martha and the Muffins!

Keep on rocking on the hills!
Have been searching my unconscious. Made up of the ID EGO and Super-EGO! All three are now discussing which one is correct!

Here is what they say!

First
Take
Position
Initiate
Position
Then
Flow-line
That is the EGO's choice

The super-ego's part of the unconscious is much more religion/moral oriented. He feels the answer is;

Faith (in self)
Trust ( in skiing skills)
Patience (of first turn)
Intuition (about course)
Power (to execute turn)
Technique (to follow up power)
Flow (line)

Now if you know anything about the ID within the unconscious it is basic animal instincts! Me me me all the time! Want want want all the time! Pure pleasure at all times! Its choices are;
Fast (gives pleasure all the way)
Turns (are sensational)
Passions (on and off ski hills)
Instincts (are what I am all about)
Pleasure (is what I seek 24 hours a day)
Therapy (which I need sometimes)
Fun (is what skiing and life is all about)

I think if I thought like this while skiing I would hit a tree!

Here is the ultimate ski tuning room!
No it is not my room! However take a look at this picture and please make suggestions on what could be "added"

Here are my suggestions;
1.A small fridge
2.Foot rest in front of sofa
3.Surround sound Bose speakers
4.More skiing poster on cement block wall
5.Sauna in top right section
6.Behind sofa a small "four skier jacuzzi pool"

Thank you,SERJOE and Mickey THE FISH!

Brilliant comments.

Dam I missed the fish tailing. since I often see this in the Rockies or in Utah!

SERJOE. Bravo. I love this site because of skiers like you! Such divergent thinking and varied cultures ( and education)!

Here is a true fish related story!

If you read about the World Cup skier and their equipment , they will do anything to get that .003 sec less!

Spyder ski comapny has been producing ski suits that are based on research fish scales and how fish ( specifically sharks) can swim so fast with little "water resistance"!

What was discovered in fish studies is that shark ski creates tiny "vortexes" which allow air to come between water and skin! This turbulance allows a more efficient water flow!

Modern ski suits are amazing technological products since they replicate the shark skin, thus creating those vortexes!

So you see Mickey soon very soon when you will be member of the national ski team they will know why you are the FISH!
Because you are faster than all of us!

If ever you have a chance..touch one of those suits!!!!! Just like a fish!!!!!
I just took my Ipod and listed songs.
Now Jan wants some form of "explanation"

I will have to sit down and "analyze" why each song touches me as skier! It might be too close to truth and after all your comments about my use of baby wipes, I am becoming defensive!

You never know, my boys might find this site or some of you will come to ski over the pond! I will really have to hide!

One thing I have discovered about music. It has therapeutic effect! If ever you have serious pain, try some Pavarotti Puccini's Nessum Dorma or Tubular Bells by ELO! It works!

I will try to make some form of comment list after I find the FTPIPTP solution!
I have two files on my Ipod!

One is for those alone moments riding lifts or in caferia.

The second list is my active "ski" music!

Here is the second list! The skiing list
