Am I detecting the general feeling that everyone EXCEPT WICKERS agrees that France is over priced?
I have to say that in my skiing experience, albeit relatively limited, I have never had rude service anywhere in Austria, whereas I have had plenty of it in France.
I have also found the price to eating and drinking out a LOT less in Austria than in France, although you can do things a bit cheaper than normal in Serre Che.
I have experienced rudeness in lift queues in both countries, although in Austria it was from Austrians and Germans in a big rush to lay their towels out on the loungers, I mean get up the lift first, whereas in France it was French people just being generally rude, pushy, forceful and downright inconsiderate.

Now, has the OP made a decision on where to go yet, I cant remember?

Myself and 5 friends re going to Niederau on March. We have bought the area lift pass £150 from our tour operator and was wondering if this covers the Soll area swell? seems a lot of money for the tiny hill at Niederau??

The area pass is the Wildschonau, which also covers Oberau (I didn't bother with this as its so small) and Auffach, which has more runs and better snow. But it is a very limited area for a week.
It does not cover the other area you mention, but you can travel across and link into the Skiwelt if you purchase another lift pass over there.

Thanks for the info Tony, we will probably head over to the other areas at some point then.

Saalbach is pretty good. If you go there, I'd get the Salzburg Super Ski Card lift pass as you can go anywhere with that. If the snow isn't great low down or if the cloud is in the valley, it's only a half hour drive to Kaprun and your pass lets you up to the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier (3000m altitude) for sweeping wide blue runs or freeride itineraries (whatever floats your boat). Your pass will even cover Kitzbuhel (or at least it used to), which is a massive bonus and probably only 40 mins from Saalbach if my memory serves me well.

Basically, I'd say you're on to a winner with nearly anywhere in Austria as long as you love healthy portions of Gluhwein and crazy Europop music! I've pretty much always been able to find great nightlife wherever I've been.

Hope that helps!
