I phoned them today, to check that it would still be okay even though I am now minus a toe-nail, and they said it would be fine, but it was a good thing I phoned because they said I should bring shorts or roll up trousers  Apparently they want to look at my hairy legs and nobbly knees  I will let you know why, after I get back home, probably on Friday.

I think we'll need a photograph posting too

I don't think Pablo will like that very much

My knees look much worse than my toe

I will try and buy some thinner ski socks.

Ally, the shorts, or rolled up trousers thing, is so the fitter will be able to align the shaft of the boot to your lower leg, and so they can see the position of your feet, ankles and knees easily when you stand for the analysis.
The fitters will have the right sort of socks, let them choose you a pair (2) on the day.

Hairy legs can cause shin friction problems in ski boots, you know what to do

Thanks Bandit :D

You're not telling me that the men have to shave their legs as well, before a boot fitting :?:

I do know several guys who have opted to shave their lower legs when skiing, as it resolves problems they've had with sore shins. It's not the same for all blokes, but some do seem to get problems.

I bought them in a sports shop in France, and they seemed very knowledgable, making me try several pairs, and showing which brands fit different shaped feet.

I don't go skiing often enough to warrant buying a "tailored" fit pair, and my main priority was a pair that open up enough at the back to get my foot out without snapping my ankle, which was why I bought my own. Hire boots left me trying not to scream when I removed them due to the pain!

I don't think I'll ever be able to stop my lousy circulation, but thicker socks do seem to help. The ski socks I tried were supposedly good ones, and very comfy, but still left me with cold toes!

Bandit,
You never cease to surprise me :D
You are a fountain of knowledge on an amazing range of subjects

Gadgetgirl,
The relative with the acupuncture training sounds like an excellent idea to me. My sister-in-law had nearly lost the pulse in her foot because her circulation was so bad, and the doctors had failed to fix the problem - but acupuncture sorted it :D
Best of luck with it,

Ally

Apologies if this has already been said, I haven't read the whole 6 pages, but Snow & Rock have got a mega sale on at the moment with pretty much all their ski boots on sale at 50% off.

Hubby off to purchase tomorrow.
