another question about Ski hire, We have booked to hire our equipment from the in-house hire shop at the sonnschein. Has anyone hired from the sonnschein before? Do they have a proper technician? i have paid for expert skis and just wondered if they would be as good as hire Ski's from a shop in town? Might be worrying about nothing just thought id ask. Cheers

The ski hire in the Sonnschein is run by the hire shop next to the gondola so no difference

Phil, you cannot get a skiwelt pass in Niederau. Two choices ~ book with your rep, and pay a combined minibus fee/liftpass, where they organise for you ~ share a taxi, and buy your pass at the Hopfgarten lift office.
As Swell mentions, the Sonnschein and Harfenwirt ski hire is run by Thalers. (Oberau Thalers, not Niederau Thalers)

Not sure what I misread Phil. The Thaler shop is the one below the Gondela. I deliberately do not comment on their capabilities. I would always choose Blachfelder or Margreiter.

Can I just check something cos I'm a bit confused now? Is there actually a free bus to Hopfgarten? If so is it only free with the SkiWelt pass i.e. you have to show it to get on the bus?

Cheers all
I wish I could meet the person who first decided to strap 2 planks to their feet and throw themselves down a mountain

Emma,
There is definitely no free shuttle ski bus to Hopfgarten because Niederau is not officially linked in to the Skiwelt area - i.e. you don't get a free bus with your ski pass. Niederau is only linked to Oberau and Auffach.

BUT there is a possibility that two of the hotels are running their own free ski bus on Thursdays and Fridays from Niederau to Hopfgarten. And we are awaiting news on this from our J2Ski member in Niederau

Other than that, you have to get a taxi or sort it out with the TO's (I'm not sure about this myself but presumably Inghams etc. are doing 'away days' for which you pay for the lift pass and the minibus).
