I was wondering about it because I read this:

Plus, there's a free bus on Thursdays and Fridays from the Sonnschein and the Harfenwirt taking you over to Hopfgarten, so it's easy to ski the Ski Welt and stay in Niederau.

on:

http://ski-buzz.co.uk/2010/12/23/sun-snow-and-soll/

and I was wondering if it was true. Do you think, maybe next time you're in the Sonnschein or the Harfenwirt you could ask them please? It's not so much for me, because I might never go there, but for other J2ski readers.

Thanks,

Ally

I have my doubts on that free bus. Just got back from there. Noticed a display in the Harfenwirt foyer showing the Skiwelt area piste map, and also mention of a free bus. I checked and the free bus is the one to Oberau/Auffach. No free bus to the other areas. Another group of guests paid 16 or 18 euros to get to Hopfgarten (each way) plus 40 euros for a day lift pass.

My source was reliable, but there is a chance that the question was lost a little in translation.
I wish I could meet the person who first decided to strap 2 planks to their feet and throw themselves down a mountain

Thanks Emma,
Well, if there's no free bus there certainly should be

I'm sure it would be a great help to Niederau as a resort to connect into the Skiwelt.

I had a look at the lift pass price for the Skiwelt (and you're quite right it is 40 euros for one day), and it costs nearly the same as the Kitzbuhell Alps All Star Card, which covers over 1000 km of piste (45 euros for one day and 217 euros for 6 days), including the Skiwelt area. So anyone with a car could buy a pass for the whole area and drive around and see which bits were best :D

They next time I get the chance to ask I will do, but ski-buzz is a highly trusted website and they're normally is a small mini bus that drives up and down the street of Hotel Sonnschein.

The Skiwelt day card costs 39 Eu, the Allstart 45 Eu. Given that no one can ski in two places at once, this is about right.
I have an Allstar season pass, and I expect to ski in a fair number of resorts this season, although I will not get as much skiing I would just skiing in Niederau.
Actually, the ski bus is paid for by the Schiwelt Bergbahn, and since they are getting the benefit of the ski pass money, that is about right.
At the other end of the Wildschoenau, you could ski off piste into Inner Alpbach, and hence into Alpbach.
I foresee the day when the Schiwelt, Wildschoenau, and Alpbach are all linked on one pass. It would only take two new chairlifts to achieve this.
I don't bother skiing in Auffach, although it is suitable for bringing on lower intermediates. The steepest runs remain in Niederau.

Thanks for all the info guy's, it seems for anyone considering skiing elsewhere for a day or two the cheapest option is to get a SkiWelt pass for the week, Which is what i will be doing.
6 days Wildschönau pass 160,60 Euro's
6 days SkiWelt pass 194,50 Euro's
Does anyone know if you can pick up a Skiwelt pass from the Niederau ticket office?? Also have another question about Ski hire, We have booked to hire our equipment from the in-house hire shop at the sonnschein. Has anyone hired from the sonnschein before? Do they have a proper technician? i have paid for expert skis and just wondered if they would be as good as hire Ski's from a shop in town? Might be worrying about nothing just thought id ask. Cheers )

The ski hire in the Sonnschein is run by the hire shop next to the gondola so no difference
