Nice one, We could have brought the lift pass through Crystal but wasnt sure whether or not it was good value, especially if we do a day or two elsewhere which means purchasing another pass. Plus the girls in the group might not ski every single day so didnt make sense buying a 6 day lift pass. (Will prob end up doing it on a pay as we go basis, asuming this wouldnt be to hard?).
Had read lots of good things about the ski schools. Not sure that the begginers in the group really want to sign up for a whole week of ski school - maybe just a couple of individual days. Do you think they could hire an instructor for a private leasson for a day or two to teach them in their own small group? Was a bit worried about the snow conditions but seems i needn't be. (Dave have you skied N in March before?) Thanks again!

Unless the currency rate changes dramatically,it isn't likely that there will be much difference between buying direct, and buying from the Crystal rep. (Who may be a J2skier!) I gave you the lift tariff link, and if you look at that you will see that it is "front loaded". So your face couple of days may cost over 31/33 Eu a day, whereas the last day is only 11 Eu per day. It only makes sense to get a 6 day pass.
Similarly with ski school, where you will find the cost of 3 separate days ski school is more than the 5 days standard. It's a tad sexist to suggest that it is the girls that may be reluctant to ski every day, is it not? There is a lot of fun to be had, and friendships to be made by joining in a class. My suggestion is always ~ invest 3 years of classes in learning to ski. Then, you can build on that ~ I look forward to watching your YouTube ski videos!
When I said I had been to Niederau a couple of times, errm, I have had four winters working as an instructor in the ski school, and have skied in Niederau for over 40 years. I normally ski there for 3 to 4 weeks each season, plus trips elsewhere. I am there every March, and have been there many times for the last day of the season.
Ski well.

Thanks, makes sense what you say about lift pass and ski school so will look further into and pass what you have said on to the others. Wasn't being sexist at all, the girls themselves have already mentioned that they might like a day or two off to chill, plus we have a none skiier in the group so they will Prob want to keep them company. Are you still instructing Dave? Agree 100% about the fun to be had and meeting others at ski school, but as a mixed group we would like to ski together

Hubby and I learned to ski with the red school and they are absolutely fantastic. We've used them 4 times now. Def go for 5 days ski school (tho we've always went for 6 days), it's so worth it and the time passes so quickly. If it wasn't for the extra cost for us, we'd go to the ski school every time we're in Niederau. We've found with 6 days, on the last day there is only usually 3 or 4 people left, which is good. They also do a little ski race for all the ski schools on the Thursday with an awards night at the Harfenwirt, which is a bit of good Austrian fun, if nothing else! We've skiied there about 6 times and we've a friend who's a fantastic skiier (instructor level) but he loves going to ski school and meeting people.

Anyone been on the race n board arena before, have only just noticed it, it looks a lot of fun!, also have read there's night time skiing/sledging on one of the runs? Anyone been there/done it? Would you recommend. Cheers.

Niederau is a good place for beginners without a doubt, but you mentioned some of you are experienced skiers. You will without much difficulty be able to ski all of niederau in a little over half a day.For some better skiing but still local head down to auffach on the ski bus. It's about 10 minutes away and is free. The snow should be a little better down there for March, certainly in the afternoon as its about 400m higher than Niederau. The nursery slope in niederau cut up quite badly in mild weather, but if the learners progress fairly quickly there are a fer easy/learner runs that the instuctor will use at the top of the gondola. You can get a cab to Hopfgarten which is part of the skiwelt network, this includes soll, brixen, westendorf etc.
They use to do a Kitzbulher pass which includes niederau and skiwelt network. Just don't get the niederau local pass as you will be wasteing your time and money and be bored very quickly.
I'm not trying to put you of the place, as you know half the great thing about ski holidays is the apres and meeting up with your learner friends and having a laugh about the wipe outs etc.

The race & board arena is open to all but is often closed to the general public for two to three hours a day to allow local club racers etc to train. Bode Millar, Kalle Pallender, Killian Albreit & other international ski racers have been known to use the arena in preparation for Kitzbhule racing. If visiting 'N' in early January keep a look out when riding the lift, you never know who you might be sharing the 'T' bar with.
