Err do I? :x
Niederau, been there twice, Pension Diane ha ha ha ha!! |
I disagree slightly with that, we were a mixed group of beginners and intermediates and it kept us occupied and out of mischief, that said it does depend which end of the intermediate scale you are and if you are at the newer end, I would have said Arinsal was fine. Pas just seemed (and we only dropped people off in the centre there) like a big stag party commercialised type place - I know on the way back to the airport we were late because we had an early departure and some were still coming out of the discos and bars to collect their bags. Long transfer of 3-4 hours.
Skiing in Andorra is certainly different to the rest of the Alps but that said, been twice and both were good fun! |
I have been to Arinsal twice, it is a gondola up from the village centre (or a single chair if you are at the Aparthotel Crest) and this opens up a few runs, and you can then get the gondola link over to Pal, which offers different skiing. There used to be a good website Arinsal.com, don't know if it still exists and the pub to go to was Quo Vadis, run by some very funny South Africans. Be warned if you decide to go into Andorra la Vella at night, taxis are few and far between, there only appear to be about 5 in the whole principality!!

Well if it is all the same to you, it was SO cold up on top of the Stubai Glacier on the afternoon of New Year's Eve that we nicknamed it the Stupid Glacier - minus 20 degrees is no fun for skiing!! It hurt all the way down!
See Stupid Glacier and Flumps - you are going to have to go there now!!! |
In searching for our trip and looking at a couple of resorts known to us (St Johann and Westendorf) the searchs also came up with Alpbach and Filzmoos, both in different ski areas - just wondered about your views if you have skied them? )
|
Yes we amused the little kids in the morning saying we were getting the Flumps bus! (made them and their parents smile anyway!) If you get the area lift pass you have access to all the resorts - Elfer, Schlick 2000, Flumps, and the Stubai Glacier - on a good day, nowhere better, on a bad day -20 OMG and some very long T bars which I understand have been replaced to some degree.
