Damned natives  I have just priced up a transfer to Zinal on sbb.ch, vs the Swiss Transfer Ticket. Last winter it was cheaper to buy a rail ticket at Geneva. As the exchange rate for sterling has changed, it was quite a bit cheaper today to buy a Swiss Transfer Ticket. |
Congratulations on your purchase :D Which Canton are you in?

ise I had no idea that you had a railway hobby, congratulations on your coming out :D BTW The special scienic trains were charging a supplement when I last travelled. I expect it's to help pay for the perspex in the roof :-) |
I skied over there from Nendaz a couple of years ago. Friendly terrain, nothing particularly steep, lots of families about. If you particularly want to ski Veysonnaz, then you can buy a "Printze" Pass which covers Thyon, Veysonnaz, Nendaz and Mont Fort. For late season skiing in April, the resort White Weeks packages, appear to cease on 13th April, and the resort base is at 1300, though there is gondola access to higher slopes. I could find no hard information about their closing date. http://ski.intermaps.ch/printze/index.swf?lang=en http://www.veysonnaz.com/index.cfm?page=home&lng=en |

As you like virgin snow, and black slopes, I would suggest the Dynastar Exclusive Legend Powder. I spent a couple of days on some 172's in Zermatt recently. I'm the same height as you, and I got the impression that the 165 would have been a really great ride. I found them very stable, easy turning, with good edge grip. They are supposed to have a 20 metre turn radius but I found I could push them much tighter than that.I would consider buying a pair, it's the 1st pair of womens' specific skis that really worked for me. I have about 75 weeks on snow. As with all skis, try before you buy :D

I heard my name mentioned :D The Swiss Transfer Ticket is very good value for many transfers to ski resorts. Always check the price against sbb.ch to make sure. I travelled to Zermatt on the train from Geneva in September, it's a door to door rail service with the train station inside the airport. I purchased my ticket from these folks, and everything worked fine.Currently it's £51 for a return ticket to and from your resort. http://www.swissrailways.co.uk/ It's vital to purchase a Swiss Transfer Ticket before you leave for Switzerland. Once you are on the train, you need to have completed the ticket start date and inserted your passport number, and be ready to have your details checked by the train staff. The ticket also covers most of the Postbus service routes, if that forms part of your route. ellistine when it says free round trip, I do believe that it means that you can choose the route you travel by, but you must complete the journey in one day :D |
Thank you for bringing that to my attention , it had momentarily slipped my mind :D |
Thanks :D I try to help where I can, not everyone uses the rating system though :D Anyway, if I had a really high karma, it might go to my head  I'd need a bigger helmet for sure..... |
