Tried a couple of times to get my altibus link to load Xmas dates, and it looks as though the site has not been constructed. When I tried it again using the French version, I was transferred to...
http://www.sat-leman.com/ Making a guess, it would seem that the operator covering Samoens is SAT LEMAN this winter. The english version does work, and gets you to this.... http://www.sat-leman.com/fr/reservation/horaires.aspx?cp=en&rt=SLM119&dA=24/12/2007&dR=31/12/2007 I hope this helps :D |
Hi, I came across these folks a few weeks ago. Looks like you could get a whole minibus for your group for 380 Euros return. I have not used them, though I have used Altibus IIRC. In the meantime here's the linky....
http://www.skiidygonzales.com/index.php I'll let you know if I find out anything about Altibus :D |
Hello again :D Absolute budget accomm can be had at the Vagabond. If that does not appeal, then how about searching j2ski.com accom for an apt on the hill up towards Brevent. That way, you would be close to skiing, and only 10 mins stagger from the bars in town )
I have rented up that hill, and the apts are older, and bigger than yer average French apt. Great location too. I had my rental through Interhome, who gave top notch service. Get some ideas on prices and positions here.... http://www.chamonix.net/english/home.htm |
Thanks :D. I was specifically in Chamonix to ski the Vallee Blanche, but the weather and the Bank Holiday got in the way . Went over to Les Arcs/Tignes afterwards, then on to Val D'Anniviers for the season finale in mid April. Apparently it was a bad snow year in Europe :D For Chamonix, there should be free parking at Flegere. Brevent has a pay multi storey. Le Tour has free parking, as does Vallorcine, and Grand Montets. * All last winter's info though! When skiing out of St Gervais in the direction of Megeve, we park at Le Bettex gondola, again free. If you really wanted to drive round to Megeve, you can use the Princesse gondola, which had free parking last time I was there. Ensure that your rental car has snow tyres, and chains in the boot, some of the roads leading to the tourist accomodation in St Gervais are not cleared with any urgency after a snowfall IME |
Also worth a visit, is Les Houches. You can access the ski area by using the train from St Gervais. Lower prices than Chamonix, tree lined runs, and a good variety of slopes. I was there in April this year, and it was fairly snow sure :D http://picasaweb.google.com/bandit2106/SkiApril2007/photo#5054472477732432146 |
Er  1983.....
Been every year since though, totally hooked 1st time out on skis :D |
Definitely take them in this country. It will give them lots more confidence when they get to the resort. If they have some lessons over here, they will learn more quickly, and have all the basics ready for their 1st holiday on snow. :D
You will need a £1 coin for the lockers at Milton Keynes....these are NOT refundable, so take everything you need for your session, or it can get expensive! I believe that learn to ski in a day packages are offered, though you would need to check that your children can be taught with other children. Ps. The Milton Keynes place is called Snozone, and the one at Tamworth is called Snowdome :D http://www.xscape.co.uk/snow/milton-keynes/whats-inside/snowslope/?PHPSESSID=69b9 http://www.snowdome.co.uk/ |
They seem quite expensive for a used ski. I would agree with you that the 1080 is a park ski. They may be fine in powder, but there is no way I would call them an all mountain ski. I tried a new 1080 Thruster on indoor snow and they were lacking in edge stiffness.
If you are having doubts at this stage, call off the deal. |
