Ski gloves

After messing about with cheaper brands for a few years, I splashed out on some Hestra Army Heli Gloves, a couple of winters ago. Only once have I needed glove liners since. I do get cold hands though. Also, I had got really fed up with cheaper gloves getting cut when carrying skis, the Hestra's seem to have quite tough leather on the palms. If you fancy some, buy them bigger than your glove size, they seem to size down )

Er...won't this be a different result with different length poles :?:

I mean both poles being the same length, but using varying length poles?

Does that make sense?

Also, how can half of 45 be 27?

They told me if I wanted to buy another bag and transfer the luggage into it there would be no charge, we had nothing more in the bag and we were charged nothing on the outward journey at Stansted.
Are budget airlines cheaper, I'm not so sure.

I am very suspicious of the weighing machines used by Ryanair. I recently travelled to Spain with them, with a largish electrical item which the manf. said weighed 11.7 kilos. It fitted into my hard Delsey case and I have real problems believing that in doing so the combined package became 17.7 kilos earning me a £22 excess baggage charge ex-uk. I paid up, as there was really no option there and then.

On the return trip, now minus the delivered electrical item, my case was full with cheap groceries :D I asked to weigh my case at the airport before checking in, and this was refused, I even asked at customer services. When I finally checked in, my case sat on the scales at 14.5 kilos (phew) and with no-one touching it, or even nearby, I saw the scales go up to 15 kilos whilst the check in staff wrote out the boarding card. I watched many others in the same queue being sent to pay excess baggage charges.

it could happen, I was up on Cairngorm last week and I nearly blew away :D

Well, there is less of you than there used to be, you'll just have to buy heavier boots to compensate :D
STORAGE OF SKIS

Hi, welcome to J2ski :D

As it's nearly the start of the main season, you might want to keep your skis close to hand at home and take them out and stroke them now and then...or is it only me that does this

Seriously:

The loft will be okay in the winter, but can get too hot in the summer. I suggest, under the bed, behind a door, under the stairs etc.

Make sure that the skis can lie tips down, or tips to the wall and separated, and my own preference is to close the heel piece, though not everyone does this.

If your bindings have been set to fit your boots' length, and your weight, height, ability, then the only other job you may want to tackle is to remove the storage wax( which can be grubby) and have a nice fresh coat of wax put on. You can do this yourself, or ask a dealer to to it for you.

Good spot bandit... that'd be the Midi lift then... 8)

Still, a rocking place to be for Christmas...

Yes, agreed, though I'm still wondering which Hotel, and if it is in the Sud area, if the Midi will be open to ski/board, it's a bit early in the season for the snowcover. Also, our buddy seeking poster is a snowboarder, and may find the the descent down the VB is not really optimal on a board, unless he takes ski poles )

Then again, Cham at Xmas....he may surface by lunchtime
