Solea, if you do head to StA, and want to head off-piste, do have a read up on the different terminology for insurance cover in Europe. As a huge generalisation, European off-piste is the skiing done away from marked and patrolled slopes, which may be inside the resort's boundary, ie: between pistes is considered off-piste, and insurance cover needs to reflect this.

22 days to go, is it too soon to start packing? :D

I have skied the area, staying in Morrillon (sp?) close by. Samoens is very pretty. There is a new (ish) gondola giving access to the extensive skiing. I would go back

It could be you are :D Then again, my Stockli's are only 158cm, but have a turn radius of 17m+ It's all in the angles apparently, me I just go skiing :D |
Um...I think K-Y Jelly is water soluble...so unless you carry a tube with you ) |
I was out on 165's, 169's and 175's just last week. They were all very new, and also available in 189cm in one of the models. I also rode a drag lift last year with an 18 year old member of the German National Ski Team. I guess you would have called his skis a bit last century as well, since competition mogul skis are narrow and rather long :D Not everyone wants to go out on piste carvers, clearly. |
Having been to Chamonix once or twice, you could be in for a surprise. What is the name of the Hotel you are booked in? |
The couple are also known rather unkindly as "thick and thin". The wealthy Russians do seem to bring their own entertainment too, as evidenced by the rather large and well reported police bust last year. Lacroix used to make rather good skis, I wonder if they still do. Don't worry Caron, you would be there for the skiing, not the shopping! |
