Yes, you could, so long as you are absolutely certain that the crossing you book will meet your needs. Ferry and Eurotunnel are excluded from the legislation covering distance selling in the UK, so there is no cooling off period, and the T&C's (which you have to accept) are loaded to give the co's the right to offer any service they want.
If not, factor in, walking away from the booking, into your budget, because they won't give a refund.

Don't forget customer service, most people will consider paying a small amount extra for any article if it comes with a good after sales service. Mostly shops here are expensive but the after sales service is pretty good.

It's a sad fact that even if paying full price from a big ski gear retailer in the UK, IME there is big hassle if anything turns out faulty. I did buy some gloves some years ago from one of the big ski shop chains. The seams on the palms parted after 6 days. My OH laughed at me...then his went the day after  (same glove/model).

The retailer was adamant that the gloves had been damaged by carrying skis and ski gloves were not designed for this, (so sod off IOW) All this analysis without seeing them BTW. It took quite a bit of hassle, phone calls to their Head Office etc, before I got a result and a refund.

For a retailer to be emphatic that ski gloves can't be used for carrying skis or the seams will part, is utter nonsense IMHO. I have not purchased gloves from this company since. Full price branded goods, poor durability and shoddy aftercare.

Good job that Hestra gloves seem capable of coping with all aspects of skiing :D

ise Since our household has stayed in all the places you have listed, I read out the descriptions to my OH, who failed to identify any of them from the descriptions.
For Nendaz however, he did make the following observation...

"Swindon-on Ski"

Not all of Swiss alpine villages are chocolate-box pretty. Not everyone is looking for traditional village architecture and evidence of an existence outside of skiing, clearly.

I believe the Soviets used to have postcards of tractor factories though.

There's no shortage of more charm in Austria or France for that matter, Vaujany for example as mentioned above.

Yes, I see your point about perspective in the pretty village stakes.

Not visited Vaujany, so I can't comment. Les Gets though, is quite close to Switzerland so visitors could pop over the border quite easily. Les Gets is a sprawl, and there are some pretty chalets, though it's the main street that really lets it down IMV.
Samoens village centre is pretty, and nearby.

Snow is on the way

Both Metcheck and Snow-forecast.com are saying much the same. Snowy and windy weekend for resorts on the way. Seriously chilly temperatures, which will be great to get the base firmed up for the season :D

I have no access to a BOSU ball, so I use a wobble cushion to do the same exercise :D
