Ski gloves

From your description, the gloves were plenty warm enough, but lacked any breathability in the fabric, bit like a personal sauna. Spend a little more and your gloves will work at keeping your hands dry by moving moisture away from your skin.
If you are out in very cold weather, there would be a point at which the perspiration could freeze the whole glove.

I'm wondering if you could use anti-perspirant on your hands...anyone any ideas here?

Trencher, are you using plug shells for your race boots?

I have seen Dynamic Balancer's but not been on one. AFAIR cem had one in his workshop last year, but I can't remember the name of it

buying skis

duncan72 I'm not sure if any of the retailers in Saas-Fee will have the skis you want. Here is a list of the shops on the resort website. You could try emailing them to see if they are stockists. also consider that there are less CHF to GBP than this time last year, and you will be paying in local currency, as opposed to USD/GBP/Euro's.

Agreed, Chamonix is a hotspot. It's gained that status for a reason though :D

unfortunately the train from Le Fayet doesn't connect to Geneva airport directly and it's 2.5 - 3 hrs on the train

That's such a shame, there used to be a TGV calling there on a Saturday in season AFAIR, but not this season :(
