I have heard of Steep and Cheap, though these days UPS will happily swallow any savings I might have made, in their carriage charges. The UK Post Office now charge for collecting Duty on behalf of HMRC BTW.
Nice Snow Report, Admin. Concise and on-topic

If I purchased a goretex product and it degraded after 20 days or so, the retailer would be receiving a parcel from me, since the typical warranty is a year.

They do get a lot of returns but bear in mind 20 days use is around a year for most people. Mostly people are secretly perfectly happy with this, they want a new jacket every year or anyway.

Ah,yes, good points and quite true for a lot of folks. Now, can I justify a new jacket, as I've been wearing the same one for 2 winters :D

 Glove thread..sorry

Hestra state they are waterproof as well, so maybe you were unlucky with a faulty pair??

Waterproof is a relative term for clothes. Unless you have an impermeable membrane then everything has a saturation point and will let water in sooner or later. Mostly the idea Goretex is waterproof is a sham, the true life is often only around 20 days before performance is degraded.

Have your Hestra's ever let in water? I have no evidence that mine have leaked, though the leather does get soggy and feel heavy in warm wet conditions.

Prepping the base and doing your edges is the sort of behaviour skiers exhibit. I wonder if you are hankering after freeing your feet )
