Waaaaaagh!!!! :shock: I was joking...are you? :lol:
The Auto Socks are not recognised as chains by the police in France. So if you are in a chainage area, then you won't be allowed to proceed. The European Motoring Associations think they are pants too, after testing them (as well as being socks)
)

There is supposed to be a new tyre chain on sale this winter specially for low profile tyres/rims. Try a google search.

Trencher wrote:So going back to my original question. If the boots haven't changed and the bindings are not normally canted, how has it been possible for the average skier to go from a feet together stance to a wide stance and still have flat skis, given the limited cuff adjustment ?

It is just a general interest question.

The body partially compensates. I'm not certain cuff adjustment will have any effect whatsoever on how flat the ski is on snow. Cuff canting (I think) is solely to align the boot cuff with the tibia, power transmission etc. The business end is the clog bit, and how the foot stands in the boot.

Take your average skier, stand them on a large table in their skis and boots in a skiing stance and shine a torch under the length of the skis. Look for the obvious.(it's what was done for me, way back when I was a lot younger) There was an exercise I simply could not do, I know as "bandy legs". Travel in a straight line move onto (both) inner and outer edges without ending up in a heap. I did not end up in a heap, but simply failed to achieve the both outer edges element.....because I'd spent all my time on my inner edges..apparently, when I thought I was standing flat )
What questions would you ask ?

Personally? No )

I know Fredrik Ericsson has a planned ascent/descent for next summer as part of his objective to climb/ski the three highest peaks. He was on Kangchenjunga last month but didn't make the summit so I'm not sure where that leaves the project, I presume he'll push on and try again next season now.

Some news at http://www.fredrikericsson.com/news.aspx

Has it been skied before? Not that I recall.

That is an excellent website, super photos, thanks :D

With my limited understanding of boot technology, if you are not using plug shells, then any alignment correction can really only be a + and not - as you have no sole material that can be planed.
Or summat...hopefully cem will be along soon :lol:

A cheaper option may be to take the train from Grenoble and a minibus or taxi from Moutiers?

For example, using raileurope.com, a single standard return fare as far as Moutiers costs £33, for a journey outwards on 3rd Jan and back on 10th Jan 2009.
