First time in Europe. Good boarding in April?

Welcome to J2ski :D This winter will be likely regarded as the best in many years. Reports of 90cm in Chamonix town, which is pretty unusual.
Every time I have visited Chamonix in April there has been plenty of snow, even in "poor" snow years. If you head up to Grand Monetets you should avoid disappointment :D |
DIN requirement seems awful high for recreational skiing, but what do I know. You may get more response for used kit from a site such as TGR with mainly US/Canadian members.

Ta, Dorset Boy, it's been a few years since I was there (and it shows)

Trencher, time to go to Plan B

Help...does anyone know how to get from Geneva to Val Cenis cheaply

Ah, that explains it. French side is cheaper, harder to navigate to/from and you pay extra for extras like winter tyres. The Auto-Europe prices are in line with all the agencies it would seem, as they are offering a Kia Picanto for £207 (Swiss side) for the dates we need. Special Offer apparently. I thought you had found a source of cheap rental cars! Difference between the two sides of the same airport looks to be about £50. No good us renting on the French side as we need a Vignette  |
Result  Well Done :D

Sorry, not a resort that I have visited. Car Hire out of Geneva has gone up a bit in price this year IMHO, seems abot £200 per week now. Also, depending on your time of arrival you may not be able to get public transport, and may have to overnight in a hotel.
Another option is to use Altibus http://www.altibus.com/index.aspx Val Cenis resort think they are served by this company, though it may not run direct from Geneva. |
Nice one Ian  :D
