Hi Greg, welcome to J2ski :D
You sure about your destination? There's not much skiing there, and no nightlife. You may as well head for Verbier, you have to pass the turn off on the motorway. :D Not sure if there are any sales on yet in Switzerland, and the exchange rate is much less favourable than a year ago. I am reliably told that in Zinal a pair of Movement Black Rose with Marker Baron bindings is on sale at CHF 1100. In the UK the ski is £379, and the binding £209. You will however be passing a large Stockli store at Vevey on the way from Geneva :D Good luck with the return trip ) |
Pabs what can I say but....
Ooooh, nice :D :D :D Envy 8) |
Result  |
Pabs These photos were not taken in Zinal ) BTW Your countrymen have already made it to the valley, as there are pure breed Highland cattle in the village of Fang :D |

It's your magnetic personality. Irresistably, folks of all ages are drawn to you. I expect in this case they bounced off, and the parents never even considered that you might have been injured  |
Slopes look good, what were the conditions like?
Senile? It's the St-Luc Effect I reckon. ISTR a while back, you getting to St-Luc and realising you'd forgotten your boot liners. It seems to be catching as well. The both of you clearly need a laminated list ) If you do one for David, could you put my photo and name on it, as he forgot who I was when I spoke to him last, so you could be right with your initial assessment. Reads like the both of you need to spend an hour sorting out your kit  |

I also think he got off lightly. I would love to know the circumstances that led to the collision. I think 5000 Euros compensation is an insult to the family of the dead woman. Incidences like this I think, will inevitably lead to legislation that will impact all slope users. It might be a blanket helmet law*, or proficiency testing, or perhaps mandatory 3rd party liability insurance. *Insurers are already paying close attention. Back in 2005, I was asked to state if I was wearing a helmet, on my claim form. |

No, as I would have needed to pursue it at the time. I was too messed up with the break,(16 weeks to knit) and French law is not robust enough in this area to make it straightforward. All I could see was me spending out on attending court in France, costs for lawyers etc and no result. The woman that ran into me was sorry, initially she was hysterical (so I'm told). Hopefully she went on to ski more slowly through crowded crossing points thereafter. Off piste is way safer. |
