if you come right into the barrage wall it's somewhere over 50', it's not always skiable, often it turns into an icewall. To skiers left you've a small cliff complex so there's a series of "don't-miss" turns.


Next time we meet, will you remind me to avoid the 50' bit and to by pass the "don't-miss" turns in favour of more mellow stuff )

Not too much of which aspect of this horrible incident?

Piste collisions are on the increase.

Hit and run on the slopes is reportedly on the increase.

Slope user speeds are reportedly on the increase, with some resorts now zoning parts of resorts with speed limits.

Criminal prosecutions are now being reported in the European press, maybe they've been taking place for years? I was invited to bring charges for assault by the French police, against the woman who broke my collarbone, and that's going back to 2005.

The trial has been held, and a guilty verdict reached. He was fined 33,000 Euros, plus 5,000 Euros compensation for the relatives of the woman who died.

The woman he collided with, died from multiple head injuries.


A German state premier has been charged with manslaughter over a collision on an Austrian ski slope in January in which a woman died.

Dieter Althaus, minister-president of Thuringia state, is accused by Austrian prosecutors of failing to observe regulations while skiing at high speed.
