Whit can a say fellas?

Figured I could update this thread now and again when I get a fix...

Start of December was good:

Then it all melted and left us with just a little:

A dusting the other night:

It is sleeting HARD outside my back door just now, plenty snow falling up north right now..

Glencoe had about 15cm at the bottom last night which is a pretty decent fall, calling for more all week :D

I realy wish Scotland would get some reliable snow and skiing conditions, but the best snow is usually ruined by high winds.

Are you speaking from experience? A couple of my best days skiing last year were bluebird powder days in Scotland. The press is often quite bad (although improving) so a lot of you folks get bad ideas about it.

It is ideal if you live within striking distance (an hour) and you can go when the conditions are good. It is snowing outside my house now.

I have a mate in Portlethen, just outside Aberdeen, and my sister used to live in Braemar, but I have never skied in Scotland. I would like to, as I could just get in the car and drive up, but there is absolutely no reliability and picking a weekend to do it would quite probably result in a long drive and no skiing.
I agree that the press coverage is negative, but I guess thats only from their own experience.

If you can afford to decide on a Friday that you are going to go for it, take a half day at work and get in the car. Usually if there is plenty snow the forecast for a weekend can't be too far wrong. In April this year you could have had 30 days consecutive skiing and it was bloody good!

As you can see from the photos above the snow was pretty good for December and I had untracked creamy powder turns (in all fairness there was a 400m vertical hike in race boots  .)

Agreed  The confusion might be related to Cairngorm though, it's about the windiest place in the UK very often. I did my IML speed test up there and you could barely standup, as it was gusting you never quite got the wind behind you

More photo's needed though :D
