Glad it has made you smile, it certainly gave us something to talk about at dinner that night! Little git!
But it does highlight the fact that skiers of all ages should certainly give way to those on drag lifts and wait and stop!! |
I remember going on the draglift up the easy blue run at Kirchdorf and a ski school group with Instructor were coming down to cross over the drag lift route onto the run. The Instructor shouted to all the kids to stop - all but one little smart arse did - I hoped and prayed he would ski below me after I had gone passed - and guess who he took out and who I was non too impressed with (I had no way to avoid him as he came directly at my legs). Unfortunately I saw him and his parents back at the bottom of the slope at the end of the afternoon and his parents had the audacity (after he pointed me out) to come over and ask why I had sat on their child and messed up his afternoon, so you can imagine my response (somewhat polite as said child was standing there) and impressed upon them to teach their child to listen to an Instructor - and to understand the simple word 'STOP'! He was lucky I did not kebab him with my pole!!

Finland is fab! Have you been? If so, don't knock it!

Any holiday can be as cheap or as expensive as you want to make it. I have visited Zermatt for the day and had a reasonably priced day out, but have stayed in Adelboden twice (although I stay in a cheap 'exclusive' place there!)and found it to be absolutely fine, but depends on how you want to live!

www.singlesport.com - this was the website another J2Ski bod recommended to me, had a look at the website, so might suit you!

Ah yes! I forgot about the Goatstall!! hahaha! and there is also the nightskiing there too, although it appeared you needed to be 17, Dutch and off your trolley to do it - good fun for a night though!
A group of lads from our hotel went to Bobby's a lot, not sure if it is still operating! There is also the disco/concert/europop type event after skiing in the main square near the church in Saalbach, worth a boogie in your boots! We were there during the week of Fasching... but that is another story!! See we have you sorted -Saalbach-Hinterglemm it is!! |
We did Saalbach-Hinterglemm a few years ago, and a lot of the runs met up with each other, so I could play around on the easy stuff whilst the OH scared himself silly on the steeper, icier stuff, but it was easy to meet up for breaks, lunch, etc. Hinterglemm is quieter and prettier, Saalbach has the discos and late bars. No idea what the ski school is like as everyone we met at the hotel were intermediates/advanced. It was also easy to get the bus to Zell am See for an afternoon of strolling by the frozen lake, big cakes and hot chocolate, and some nice shops - might be worth a look! We all want the perfect ski holiday like we want the perfect relationship, sometimes it works out....!!

I have been on a solo ski holiday twice now - and loved it!! I could make my own decisions, have a hot chocolate when I wanted, a long lunch if needed, pack up when I wanted, ski the same run all day if I wanted to practise something specific - and had a fab time, and also no waiting around for people to arrive/meet up for breaks! I even swapped cameras with people so I got some shots of me and me of them. That said it does help if you are a sociable type, I did chat to loads of different people. Someone did kindly post in one my threads a website address for solo skiers - I had a look and it seems a good option. Skiing is a very sociable activity but a chalet option would be a good bet as you will no doubt find someone to ski with, and then socialise later! Do it!!
