Colin's suggestion is an excellent one.
I started my boys at 2 years old and used hiking boots as ski boots and used skis in which the boots are "strapped on"! If you do this get a ski bra, which is essentially an ellastic tube with two clamps which are screed on to ski tips! Also remember that for a young child one hour is maximum time to ski! May I suggest you first let him juts walk about and slide down a very easy slope! Then place boy between your legs and hold him up by holding his shoulders. Then move to having a ski pole placed horizontally in front of him while he is between your legs! I am of course assuming you can ski! If not get instructor or friend! At end a nice warm coco and chocolate bar would help! |
Gareth Fair,
The worst is when you are in a small 4-6 gondola and you are just about to set in and you see the person in fron start to look about in pockets! I then take out my gum and offer them some! Works! |
Dave Mac,
You impress me with your "culture" and linquistic competencies! Must go with great skiing ability! |
When I travel, I insist the have rooms with "non_smoking" conditions! If one person smokes in the room I can detect it! I go to another hotel!
Skiers like fresh air and health! It has become a social no no to even suggest to smoke at parties, at meetings and never but never in sports activities! Keep insisting for non smoking! Both mother-in-law and father died of smoking! They were the generation that "believed" that smoking was "chic"! Once you see them died in your home,,,,,,,,,! Let us be honest, it is not cool to smoke! It is an addiction,,period! |
Rossfran,
Do you have the manual! Do you have DVD? Why I ask it is a good idea to pepare ahead of course by reading about what will be given to you! Their head office is just kilometers from my home. Just get on site and order material. It is worth it! Good luck on course. The success rate for level two is 60% pass! Find out who your "teachers will be" If it is Martin Jean you will have the very best! |
Well Christmas is over! We are all recovering from family meals, the cheer and song!
Let us share the best ski gifts we all got! Mine were a series of elastic bands with vario resistance so that you can do physio or warm up in all conditions and in all surroundings! Also 2 year suppl of ski and skiing magazines! |
Dave Mac,
You are so right. I am guilty of such thinking, before my tune up! I have coached many a team and I (in my ignorance) thought that I could prepare my own physio plan and program! After first session of torture,,, yet pleasure ( all knee skiers will understand) I realized how ignorant I was! All studies prove that correct supervised physio is as important as the knee work by physician! I leaned more with physio than with all my meetings with physician! I support Dave Mac'c comment completly! Take time to have correct physio program! It will be worth it! Another "suggestion"! Be prepared mentally to take all the pain since you must pass the "wall" to get better! |
Dave and site team.
The very best to you. Thank you for a great ski site. It is when all goes smoothly that we know all the work done "behind the scene" is effective. Thank you for all great support! Pavel |
