I was hoping you knowledgeable people could help me with our summer holiday 8).
I've managed to pursuade the husband to go to the mountains but we really want to find a resort that has a lake with plenty of activites, sailing, water skiing, a beach or lido maybe, family friendly.
I think we're ruling out France as we've done a lot of trips there and possibly Austria. I'd like to try something new.
Any ideas?

Lake Geneva Region might fit the bill. Alternatively, for a bigger spend, go to Lake Tahoe :D

Italian Lakes; Como, Garda, Maggiore. Majestic scenery, reasonable prices, quaint villages, great pizza and lovely locals. Sorted.
Oh, pick your town according to the seriousness of your sailing! All the lakes have thermal winds in the summer. North end of Garda, in particular, can go from flat calm to F6 in 20 minutes...
Amongst others, there's a cable car at Malcesine (very pretty lake-side village) if you want to inspect the ski slopes or go biking, paragliding, etc.

Well I found out in October that Kefalonia as well as all the beaches has loads of mountains. Actually has Greece's highest mountain. It was wonderful to have the mountains for walking, climbing and various villages as well as the beaches which in high season has lots of water sports.

I'd say forget your lakes and head for the Greek Islands for sailing, windsurfing, wakeboarding, amazing weather and scenery and great food too.

Tremblant, Canada, don't know if canada is out of the equation!?
Only problem is that it's frozen over normally.
