I'm a big fan of the Lake District but seek sun for our two week summer holiday 8)
Then a fortnight in the mountains may not be for you, you can be very lucky as I was last summer in Livigno but the same clouds that bring snow in winter brings the rain in summer
We stayed at Sirmione but also visited Peschiera! We stayed in a hotel but my friend (with 5 sons ranging from 17 to 9) camped in Peschiera and loved it. And they were there for 3 weeks.

Finn wrote:What about the English Lake District you could visit Windermere, Derwent Water go sailing on Bassenthwaite Lake, go for a leisurely walk around Crummock Water or Buttermere the possibilities are endless but one thing is for sure, you can always relax at the end of the day with a good pint of English ale. Worth a punt if only for a weekend. :D

Went to Lake Garda in July and absolutely loved it! Stayed in the South but it is really easy to get a boat and sail around the lake. Went to Venice for the day which was brill and I defy anybody, whatever their age, not to fall in love with it. I reckon your boys would love it. We also went to Gardaland which is in the south and a themepark that would be right up your boys street. We will definately be returning next summer!

We Have being to lake Garda with our 11 year old son and all of us loved it. We stayed in the south In Pescheia and did some sailing, biking ans walking and went to gardalans, waterpark and a movie themed adventure park which kept us all highly entertained. We atayed in a campsite (fisrt time ever)in quite a large mobile with decking and BBQ and our son loved the site as it had everything from games room to pools to soccer camps. We really loved the area and found the cost of holiday quite reasonable, and the weather was fab in early june 8)
