bandit,

you mentioned SZK on SH's forum. These guys truelly are a fountain of boot fitting related knowledge! I messaged Footworx on their website, just waiting a response.

one thing that did put me off a bit was a thread called 'A day at the zoo...'. This guy got his boots done with custom beds etc, 589 euros and a discount. Ouch! They were Dalbello Krypton boots however.

Obviously the UK would be cheaper with the exchange (as you mentioned earlier). So maybe CEM would be a visit, could make a day of it!

Footworks is known (very)locally as the Zoo (think animals)...hence the Zookeepers ) Dalbello's are pretty specific, and not your average boot/fit. A couple of winters ago the guys from Footworks came to the UK, hooked up with cem, set up in Lockwoods, and fitted rather a lot of boots for SH, 65(ish) pairs AIR.

I have had boots fitted by CEM as has my OH. His boots cost £190, and cem made him some Superfeet moulded footbeds which cost £100, 2 winters ago. My boots, cost £300 this season, and I re-used my Superfeet Kork footbed from my old boots (made by cem a couple of years ago) I did have Zipfit custom liners as well, but I developed a fitting problem and cem has refunded me last week. They were catching a nerve in my heels, and there was no way around the problem. Pah!.

You should budget for a moulded footbed as they stabilise the foot in the boot. Even if you decide that you can't afford boots, get footbeds made and carry them with you as they can make a rental boot much more responsive IMHO.

On the solutions 4 feet website they say it's £25 per 1/2 hour for boot fitting and modifications. Oh my days! So I'm looking at approx £200 for boot + £60-100 for foot bed + a couple hours of fitting??? Skiing is expensive enough!

Please tell me that the fitting is free for boots bought there? I can live with £300 just about!

EVO88, yes fitting is included when you buy boots there! You will def need to allow 2 hours for fitting!

Sounds good to me bandit,

I'm happy spending all day in there as long as I end up with some sweet fitting boots. I think I am going to take the OH for a trip down to El Capital and make a day or two out of it.

So say budget £300 for a decent set up?

I'll get in touch with them for an appointment, does CEM have a real name?!
