.... so if Allys forecast is accurate watch out for another meltdown with the airlines.

I'm sorry for the awful forecast Brooksy, but it's not my fault (or my forecast) it's what the Met Office was saying for Gatwick. I really hope you don't have a re-run of last year.

I've just had another look and they've slightly improved the forecast to 'light snow' on Saturday but Saturday night it's supposed to go down to minus 6 C with further light snow on Sunday and Sunday night.

Home here we have a 60% chance of snow, and all of England and Wales has weather warnings for Thursday, Friday and Saturday for snow and ice. I have been to the supermarket to stock up (just in case).

At least Gatwick and the other airports have had plenty of warning and time to get organized with snowploughs and whatever they use to de-ice the planes etc.

Best of luck everyone :D

I am leaving the rock at 11.55am on Saturday going to Gatwick with Easycanceljet, last year had a nightmare with them as it snowed the night before so LGW shut till 1 pm.Easyjets response was to cancel all flights regardless, so I was stuck here.
Rebooked & paid for a flight for the next day, according to them when I tried to get this flight online as a transfer the site didn't work & told me no seats available.
Booked on home page alright with seats available.
This is the cost of flights, see if can spot the scam?
Flight Friday 18/12/09 £ 37.18 one way.( cancelled due to snow )
Flight Saturday 19/12/09 € 259.99 one way.( all aboard )

Took 3 months & 17 emails to get them to refund me the money as in their T&Cs , so if Allys forecast is accurate watch out for another meltdown with the airlines.
Wheres all those pro DIY-ers when you want them?????

Well its happened again

Received text from Easycanceljet at 16.33 telling me to check flight before going to airport.
Next text at 16.40 flight cancelled, I realise I am flying from Lanzarote but the flight has to come from LGW to get here.

Anyone else flying with Easyjet from LGW may find their flights been cancelled also.

Bloody SNOW....

I was at London City this morning picking up at 7am, the incoming flight was from Antwerp and came in at 10am because of heavy snow over there. It seems the majority of flights into the UK from Holland, Belgium and Germany are currently suspended or cancelled, according to various travel websites.
I left LCY as it STARTED to flake with snow. By the time we got back to South Lincs (2hrs 15mins) the news reported LCY as closed due to snow on the runway. It seems the south east has been hit hard again, and very quickly.
M25 is a no go zone tonight, Heathrow flights are now disrupted as well which is much more rare and means big problems. I have it on good authority from a mate who is travelling back from London that the majority of the M25 from Herts all the way round past Heathrow to Kent is basically a no go zone and gridlocked due to excess traffic and bad conditions with the snow.
It certainly looks as if anyone travelling this weekend is going to be hit very hard, both with getting to the airport and with flights out of the UK which may well be cancelled or at least severely delayed.

Gatwick, Stansted, Luton and Heathrow currently showing major disruption to flights as of 5.30pm tonight, although I have not been to any of these airports today.

I am at Luton at 7am tomorrow so will report back on what its like there.

I understand Birmingham and Manchester are also receiving snow over the weekend and expecting major travel problems as well.

Do not be surprised if your flight is cancelled is you are flying with either Easyjet or Ryanair. I hope everyone travelling stays safe, and takes the necessary precautions in case of problems.

Anyone thinking of blocking the nations roads tomorrow by going Xmas shopping in the car - please don't bother!

Tony - stop it !!
I have chosen to believe the BBC as the most optimistic weather forecast and with that one Stansted should be OK over the weekend.
Fingers crossed for Gatwick/Heathrow etc. especially for Saturday departures.

Brooksy,
I'm so sorry
I hope they get it sorted and get you another flight. Our snow here has gone today, but we're forecast more tonight and tomorrow.

Tony,
It sounds like you've got a tough time ahead of you - just as well you've got those winter tyres :D

Hi Ally
Got a free transfer to the Sunday flight ( fingers crossed )

Just looked at LGW site & Arrecife both still show my original flight as scheduled, don't they communicate with each other :?:

Good luck Tony it looks like you will need it.

Its Nine on Sat morning and have just heard that all European flights from Gatwick are cancelled between 10.00 and 1700. I do hope the problem with shifting the white stuff is sorted by early Monday morning :( :(
