I'm sorry about that and I hope you get away okay later. I had a look on the internet and it seems Cardiff airport is open, although the flight to Geneva is delayed.

I dropped off at Luton at 8am today. No snow at all between home and Luton, but suddenly as I reached the local area there was obvious signs of recent snow. The roads were clear however, the airport open, and lots of people shuffling about with ski and board bags.
However, I've since heard Gatwick has been closed although Easyjet are preparing to resume flights today out of there, and BA have cancelled ALL European flights out of Gatwick and Heathrow until 5pm tonight.
Thats going to really hit a lot of people unfortunately.
Manchester and Birmingham have also been hit badly by the snow, but I have no news on either airport of disruption to flights.

Easyjet have just cancelled my sons recovery plan to Bristol from Newcastle today. Looked at all the options ....transfer to Exeter, straight to Gatwick, Trains and boats and planes (Is'nt that a song) Hope to rebook for tomorrow, collect him and then on to Gatwick for Monday morn. I'm sure it will be all OK :( (possibly)

Fingers crossed for everyone with travel plans this weekend. Hoping that they sort out the roads and airports quickly for you.
I wish I could meet the person who first decided to strap 2 planks to their feet and throw themselves down a mountain

I echo the sentiment, but the word "unlikely" springs to mind.

Out of curiosity I've just had a look at a few airport websites.

Stansted - open
Heathrow - more or less closed
Cardiff - open
Gatwick - open
Luton - open but bad weather affecting many flights.

Even the airports that are officially open say they are still having problems because other European airports may be shut - so I suppose they either don't have the planes they're supposed to because they couldn't get there, or you wouldn't be able to land when you did get there so they're not taking off.

Anyway, it does look better than yesterday so there is some hope for everyone trying to get away today :D

The current Gatwick forecast is light snow this evening and then going down to minus 10 C tonight

Thanks for that Ally. We have decided to transit via Bristol to recover lost son then go up to Gatwick early and stay at a hotel. Never thought I'd be saying " thank goodness there is no more snow today"

Good luck to everyone traveling away today and I hope you all manage to get to your destinations. BUT above all....BE SAFE.
