Tuesday morning update:

Very low temps and heavy frost in the east midlands, particularly cold and icy in Bedfordshire. A421 westbound very difficult towards M1 with chunks of ice on both lanes still.
M1 blocked at Northampton both ways, 2 separate accidents.
M1 north closed at M25 junction, accident, access to M1 from M25 still open and passable.
M25 fully open although outside lane still icy on outer edge and needs to be driven with caution.
Massive rise in temps around Heathrow: 2c.

I've been here 30 minutes and not one flight has landed or taken off, but the one I am meeting is due in round about now.

Unless we get more snow today, I can see things only improving fast on the roads, and hopefully at Heathrow as well. Gatwick reported open last night, but radio reports suggest a limited timetable this morning due to low overnight temps. Same at Luton where there is still a lot of snow around.

Take care people.

We are forecast heavy snow for this evening - but I'm hoping it doesn't happen - my snow chains haven't arrived yet!

The weather forecast seems to be very unreliable as regards snow/no snow. Throughout the day our forecast changes continuously. I suppose it must be a very hard thing to predict.

I hope all the roads/trains/planes/ferries do get going again soon :D

I've found that Ally. Our weather here wasn't really as predicted yesterday (even an hour in advance). I'm really hoping the snow has passed for the next (quick check) 7 days. Cardiff airport did well yesterday. In the morning they predicted closure until 4 and kept their website up to date all day. Most delayed flights were told to go through to security from the outset, and sure enough just after 4 flights started taking off again.
I wish I could meet the person who first decided to strap 2 planks to their feet and throw themselves down a mountain

Ian,
Scrapped or scraped the car? How many cars have you got?

Do you think maybe you and Tony picked the wrong weather to become taxi drivers? Wouldn't you like to be in a nice warm office again working 9-5?

Emma,
Yes, Cardiff airport is doing well coping with all this. Heathrow is a national disgrace

I'm hoping the trains from London will be running okay tomorrow because my older daughter's coming home.

Good grief!!!!
I started in April, that wasn't the "wrong weather". As someone involved in the travel business, you have to take whats thrown at you, which includes the weather. As I've said on here recently, you have to man up and get on with it. If the risk is too high, you don't take it on in the first place. I've not had a single problem getting any of my clients to or from the airports, although it has meant some careful planning and just as careful driving.
And for the record I am not a taxi driver, I am an Airport Transfer Specialist )
And I haven't worked in an office since 1995 so I don't think I'd ever want to go back to that kind of existence, thanks  Being your own boss has been a revelation personally. I actually like and respect the bloke who I work for now
