'cha

I don't know about the chalet itself but for location you couldn't get better, a stone's throw from the Aeroski (it used to be an Esprit or Mark Warner chalet if I recall?). From our experience of Tignes the gradings didn't cause any concern. You'll have no problems.

I do agree with Bandit on the Val D'Isere side though, the "ski tranquille" area which links the two resorts is anything but tranquil so I'd hurry through it if I were you. Apart from the gradings, it's the busiest part of the espace killy - where the two resorts meet.

As johah said, go down to Val D in the gondola, the most competent skiers in our group had an unpleasant experience skiing down. Get yourself up to the area above the Solaise Express, the best ski area for me personally and the best snow. And, obviously, you've got to pay a visit to La Folie Deuce on the way back to Tignes [take plenty of money though ].

Wow, so many reponses!!!

Thanks for the advice all, some great comments and I'm very excited to go to Tignes now! :)

The chalet gets really poor reviews - yes Caron, Esprit used to have it, but now it's available on a couple of sites. It has apparently been refurbished this year so hopefully that will solve the issues people had! Alpine Elements are also offering 2 for 1 lift passes which makes the price very good.

Caron (thought you'd be first to respond! LOL!!) I think your location comment has sold it for me - even if the chalet isn't fab, it's basically a place to shower and sleep, it's all about the skiing really!

Thanks again everyone! :)

Isn't that a tad dangerous? I'd drown if I drank that much and went swimming.

Agree with all the other comments about the ski runs, I've never had a major problem with signage. Tignes is never going to win 'best village charm' award but there is some excellent skiing, I personally prefer Val so highly recommend a day or two over there.

I can't comment on the quality of the chalet but the location, as has been said, is excellent. I stayed in a hotel about 50m up the hill twice last winter and it couldnt really be more central.
As for Tignes itself, I love it. An awsome range of skiing, great snow record and good lift infrastructure. Its not the prettiest resort [by a long long way :D ] but if Im looking to enjoy architecture I'll go to Paris (or Buenos Aires - the people are nicer!)
As for the piste marking, I havn't noticed a major difference between Val D and Tignes but I do marvel at that 'green' run (its called the 'Verte' just to add insult to injury!) that Bandit mentioned every time I'm there.
I did notice a big difference in the quality of piste preparation last winter, Tignes being much better. This was particularly noticable in April when the lower slopes were really slushy at the end of the day - each morning the Tignes slopes were smooth (if still frozen slush) the Val D slopes were half smooth and half piles of frozen slush. Obviously not so important when conditions are good.
I would agree with the comments about taking the lift down into Val from Belevarde, if you're not up for a challenge the Face is hard work - although if you could get all the people who aren't up for it out of your way it would be more fun )

I do believe that Tino puts in quite a few hours in training for this element of his sport!

Not sure if he can swim though )

Is it just me or do all the pictures of Tignes make it look like a something from Stalag 3?
