It's not a place to go for quaint and twee architecture. Only go for the skiing, which is pretty expansive )

Yes, Dave is a cyborg with liquid nitrogen pulsing through his veins... 8) Possibly a typo methinks...

Scuse me Admin. Twas definitely not a typo. It was actually minus 140 degrees, but, well, you know me, I just don't like to overstate the situation. So I knocked it back 20 degrees or so.

It was bad enough having to share the gondola with brass monkeys. 8)

Further more, me old china, if it had been only minus 12 degrees, I would have been talking about how good the weather was.

I do not subscribe to the school of skiers that only seek out sunny slopes, and constantly complain about shadowed north facing slopes, ie those slopes that hold the best quality snow.

Isn't that a tad dangerous? I'd drown if I drank that much and went swimming.

I do believe that Tino puts in quite a few hours in training for this element of his sport!

Not sure if he can swim though )

......good point Bandit, I should clarify: Swim = Getting wet in a pool, for the love of goodness, how does one manage breaststroke or crawl with a Mojito???

A great day is to ski from Tignes via the val lift, I forget its name (Tommeaurse, mayve?) across then down to Les Dials via Verde run then hop on the bus to the Solaise Express in Val, get to the top of Solaise then get the up and over 6 man chair to La Fornet (don't look down) and ski the glacier totally fab, fantastic day. Tignes Val Claret is a great spot as you can get up the Grande Motte quickly and the skiing around that area is stunning. I've heard all these stories about various resorts being like Tenerife in the snow, its not true, just hype to get the yoofs in. Go for Tignes Val Claret you will love it, been the last 21 years at Easter.

I recommend this as a good day out, and it's perfectly achievable to ski from one end of the system to the other and back in a day without getting on a bus. I've started in Le Fornet, skied to Brevieres and got back to Le Fornet.
