soz, jan stenmark, i didn't read your earlier message about the hotel vicky being offered by crystal. but others say that now it's been withdrawn by crystal too?
how are you fixed for a drinks visit by 3 girlies the week of new year(we have a car).
to reitertate dave mac's message about the train service out of munich airport: i've uesed this train many times, and never, ever paid. i've always been rushing onto the first innsbruck train i can find out of munich ost. a few times, the german ticket collectors have come round and when i've asked ''pardon?'' , they've always shrugged their shoulders and walked on! I may well be heading along this week aswell, with a group of around 10. We've settled on Austria, but not yet the resort.
Is anyone seriously going to be around in Niederau the week of the 3rd-10th? (I will!) Or is the J2ski gathering going to be 2010?
The real deal is in St Anton that week )
PSC, firsly, I'm really glad you found something and well done for sticking with Austria and grabbing yourself a deal 8)
Secondly, and just to put things in perspective, we have been fully booked for the New Year week since early March this year
You mentioned Tiscover. We get approx 10 emails per day from them and have been since late Sept for that week ... I don't profess to understand it but there ya go ...
The crazy thing is we have apartments free for Xmas week which you'd have thought was a more popular week  hey, ho :)

Where to start on this one....
I was thinking of booking for New Year at the Hotel Harfenwirt with Last Minute who were offering HB from Bournemouth (Inghams in disguise!!) for £449 - good price which had gone up to £499 last time I looked. However as you remember I did have my reservations about the size of the ski area and costs of travelling to Ski Welt. Also Bournemouth is a long way from Lancs!
So after a night out and some wine ) Mr PSC and myself decided to book some Flight only deals with Inghams from Manchester to Innsbruck on the 27th December. With three teenagers we prefer the flexibility of an apartment and thought (as we usually go to France) that it would be dead easy to get something somewhere in Austria!!! In fact there was a website called Europe Mountains that seemed to have lots of availability. So that night with flights booked I put in what I thought was a reservation for an Apartment in Mayrhofen.
The next day EM came back and said not only did they not have the one I wanted, there was nothing else available that week. :x No probs or so I thought. I have spent several long nights and the last two weekends searching for accommodation. Don't get me wrong there is still some around if you have £600 - £1500 per person and like Hotels. The Tiscover website came up with nothing and I have put in many requests to different tourist offices. We honestly thought we were going to have to cancel or drive to France!!! Luckily we have found an apartment at last in the Ski Amade region, 1 km from Grossarl village for a reasonable price and booked it. :D
So come on get to the point PSC I hear you call, what has this got to do with Hotel Vicky for petes sake!!! Well I did receive an offer tonight of rooms in said Hotel Vicky with meals in the Hotel Schneeberger next door!!! At a reasonable rate too which I would have taken up if I had not booked the Apartment. So the Hotel Vicky seems to be opening its doors on a room only basis??
If I decide to book Austria for New Year again I will be sorting out my accmmodation a lot lot earlier!!! However now I am looking forward to what I believe will be a fantastic ski holiday and New Year PARTYYYY....
