So, unless I can do a last minute thing I'm going to have to give it a miss.

2010 anyone???

Getting well is the most important thing you can do. There will be other winters to enjoy, if you get your recovery completed. Admin is quite correct, stay focused and keep up the recovery.

A 2010 meet up is something to look forward to, as well as good snow in April next year.

Just to echo what everone else has said caron, your health is the most important thing.
There will be lots of other opportunities and it might be better for another meet in 2010 as most people have already made plans.
My hubby still not got holiday conformation from work as yet, So it might be a none starter for me too.

If Dave raided his piggy bank he could buy Hotel Vicky and we could have our own Hotel J2ski.

The village we used to live in, in the UK, only had one pub and one day the brewery decided to close it and sell it to developers. Naturally everyone was grumbling about how unfair it was until one enterprising person said, “Well lets do something about it!”

And so they did. The village got together and formed a company, and sold shares to anyone in the village who wanted them. The company bought the pub, then employed a professional manager and top-class chef and to this day the company and pub go from strength to strength and the village has a highly popular social centre. This is a true story!

I think there was talk about an English football team doing something similar too but I’m not so sure about the details.

So why not the J2VickySki ???

Just my sixpence worth

My piggy bank went under the hammer long ago... ... I have got a tin-full of Euro-shrapnel, some totally original French Francs (well, centimes) and three used staples if that helps?

Perhaps Jan could have a word with the Mayor and have the town renamed to J2Skiderau?

hi dave mac.
hope you received my email to you earlier. what is all this about the vicky not being offered by thomson this coming season? i'm sure when i looked at the brochures weeks ago, the vicky was there on the niederau pages.

you're right, the place just needs an injection of cash and a lick of paint. the rooms in genaral are rather ad looking, with walls and some bedding having cigarette burns in'on them. however, some rooms had new bathrooms fitted a few years ago and these lifted those rooms.

the place is STILL owned by M U, is it not? perhaps jan stenmark can confirm this. i have always understood that thomson took the vicky on a long ''lease'', but that allowed the company to pull out if and when it wanted. i have heard rumours that the owner was thinking of retrieving the hotel and turning the place into high quality apartments, as has been done elsewhere in the village in the last few years.

the vicky has been very safe, and convenient for families in particular, but people staying there seem unable, or unwilling to venture further afield, even to see a typical Tyrolean evening at somewhere like the Harfenwirt. and they don't get to sample the cuisine of austria because the vicky's chef is always british.
whatever, the vicky will be almost full for most of the season, i would imagine, especially xmas/new year and feb half term. these people will all have to be moved elsewhere in the village/nearby. i can see lots of unhappy families who have used the vicky for years.
L.
will someone please let me now what's happened?
